How to end Addictions?
Addictions cause too much turmoil. Often,
addictions make families dysfunctional. Individually, addictions are hard to
understand especially when your partner is addicted to alcohol, cigarettes, and
porn. Sometimes, you cannot find the correct words to make them end their
excessive consumption of alcohol, smoking, and from viewing erotica. Being
their moral support might not be enough.
Seek professional
help, individual therapy, or group therapy to overcome addictions. Depending on
the type of addiction, the person might need individual therapy and family
therapy. Educate yourself to understand your partner's addiction. It will help
you understand how addictions change the brain's mechanism in distinguishing
reality from fantasy. Having an addiction becomes obsessive, abusive, and
compulsive.
Other times,
addictions cause the person to feel aggressive and withdrawn. It can be
difficult to see your partner go through the different stages of withdrawal. Do
not provide alcohol, cigarettes, or anything that they are addicted to.
Do not give them money either. Yet, provide them kindness and let your partner
accept his addiction. Here are more resources about addictions.
