How to Make Poetry with Sound Effects?

Writing poetry at home can be fun especially if you are rhyming words. However, another way to write poetry at home and have fun writing it, you can practice onomatopoeia. Onomatopoeia is a writing device in poetry and in literature to help create an image in the mind. This writing device describes sounds and actions. These writing sound effects can be repeated in poetry to make a visual image of the theme of the poem.

For example, today I drafted a poem using onomatopoeia by describing what happens every time I use the elevator. Without describing the elevator, I create a visual image of walking inside and walking out of the elevator. Nonetheless, onomatopoeia can be used to describe the weather, things, animals, and other events. Writing sound effects can grab the attention from your reader. It makes reading enjoyable.

When using onomatopoeia, one must have a theme to make it easier to draft a poem. Although you can draft a poem without a theme and use onomatopoeia, make sure your writing is clear and creates a visual image. Use repetition for the sound effects and rhyme words if you need to. Writing with onomatopoeia can be done for five minutes or for thirty minutes to help you relax. Nonetheless, writing sound effects can help you stay awake or can help you prepare for sleep.

Practice writing onomatopoeia in the afternoon or at night to help you relax. You might want to write in silence or listen to music to inspire you to write. Write down your thoughts or an experience that happened to you to write with sound effects. Nevertheless, writing sound effects can help you to express yourself and practice creativity. Share your poetry with your friends or family members especially if they need laughter or want to read mood poems. 

Also, onomatopoeia can be a great writing device for children to practice their writing skills. It also helps them with their language skills. The best part is that they will have a fantastic time sharing their poetry with sound effects.
