Taking it Slow: Music, Gratitude, and Relaxation
Taking it slow for one hour can improve your mood and can help you practice
gratitude with music. Listening to several types of music for one hour can
reduce your stress and stay focused on your tasks. Whether you are cleaning,
exercising, or working on an assignment for work; You can listen to music with
themes of gratitude to encourage you to continue to feel positivity. For
example, you can listen to an Intermezzo to slow down and practice gratitude
meditation. Stare at a painting and say "thank you" to make you feel
inspired.
However, you can listen to
any type of musical composition to stop what you are doing or stop what is
stressing you out such as turning off the television from too much news
broadcasts. Additionally, stopping yourself from saying something that you
might regret especially if you disagree with someone at work or with your
spouse. Nonetheless, you can listen to classical music or a short classical
composition as you brush your teeth for three to five minutes with mindfulness.
Alternately, listen to classical music as you walk or make an impromptu dance.
Turn on a battery-operated candle, play classical music, and use clay to
meditate for one hour.
Also, you can also use
flour, salt, active dry yeast, and water as you meditate and focus on the
texture of the mixed flour. Using clay or flour can help you to practice
mindfulness, meditation, or as a mind exercise for relaxation. Make bread with
the flour or make art with the clay as you continue to focus on your hand
movements. Listen to the music as you make art or bread for three to four
hours. After you are done say “thank you” and smile as you appreciate the bread
that was made or the clay sculpture that was made.
Another way is by using
watercolors and making brush strokes with the paint brush. Use xerox paper and
practice making paint brush strokes. Listen to the music and make paint brush
strokes with watercolors. Let the paint brush and your mind guide you to make
the paint brush strokes without thinking about what design you will make on
paper. Practice calligraphy with the watercolors as you carefully listen to
your selected music.
Do not let anyone diminish
your creativity, your music selection, or your mood. Listening to music can
help you enhance your emotional wellness, physical wellness, and your
concentration for work productivity. Enjoy listening to music as you are
organizing your spice rack and while making your grocery list. Music helps you
find a balance between chores and relaxation. Remember to do everything in
moderation and find time to practice gratitude.
Explore several types of
activities while listening to music. Organize and add items to remind yourself
about practicing gratitude in your room. If you find yourself stressing out, go
to your room with items that make you feel peaceful, feeling grateful, and
feeling encouraged. A gratitude room or a gratitude corner in your home can
help you stop reading and take a break. Listen to music as you read your
gratitude wall, gratitude posters, or other items.
Select items that make you
feel comfortable and safe as you practice self-gratitude, self-awareness, and
self-focus. Save a music playlist of classical compositions, world music,
contemporary music, and music that makes you sing. In addition, practice gratitude
with your family and practice music appreciation. Make paper keys, paper
hearts, or other silhouettes to write three or five items that you are thankful
for as you listen to music. Here are resources about selecting music and
gratitude.
