Brain Exercises (Alzheimer's & Brain Awareness Month in June)
The whole month of June
is Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month which is dedicated to showing support and bringing awareness of Alzheimer’s and other brain conditions. It affects
language, memory, and how a person thinks. As it progresses a person’s
personality and mood change depending on the type of dementia. Some brain
conditions are caused by genetics, environmental factors, injuries, depression,
and other factors that may increase the risk of dementia or other
nervous system disorders. However, some neurological diseases can be prevented
by taking healthy steps and incorporating them into your lifestyle.
Doing brain exercises
for languages such as doing word scrambles, making words, writing poetry, crossword puzzles, or other word games. Walking is a good brain exercise for memory.
Also, playing matching games with pictures or with words, jigsaw puzzles, playing
cards, and singing a song by memory. Reciting and recalling information such as
a to-do list, shopping list, or a list of words. Additionally, do brain
exercises for your thoughts such as journaling and brainstorming.
Practicing calm activities by yourself or in a group such as gardening in silence, running, tai-chi, yoga, or other mindfulness activities. Listening to music you have never heard before and dancing to the new music. Start your day by exercising your brain for ten to fifteen minutes. Some activities require one hour to do but it can be done with your family or friends to enjoy playing these word or memory games. You can wear purple or something purple for Alzheimer’s and for Brain Awareness throughout June and on June 21st.
June 21st, the first day of summer is also the longest day to bring an understanding of Alzheimer's, Dementia, and other neurological diseases that affect the brain. You can purchase merchandise from the Alzheimer's Association. As well as bringing awareness of Alzheimer’s, Dementia, and other brain conditions via social media. Participating in a walking marathon for Alzheimer’s and Dementia. Find time to do brain exercises, be a volunteer, and spread awareness of Alzheimer’s.
Contribute to further research for the cure for Alzheimer's. The more time that is devoted to knowing what Alzheimer's is, the more awareness you will have. Not everyone understands Dementia, Alzheimer’s, and brain conditions. But learning more about Alzheimer’s can help you understand what it is and to care for someone who has Alzheimer’s.
