National Iced Tea Month in June


The entire month of June is National Iced Tea Month. This month, you can try a variety of ice teas with green tea, black tea, mint, fruit-flavored teas, and lemonade teas. The popular ice teas are peach, black tea with lemon, raspberry, hibiscus, black tea with oranges, ginger tea, black tea with mint, or green tea with ginger. It is so easy to make iced tea at home using tea bags or powder ice teas. Ice teas have been popular since it was served in St. Louis, Missouri in 1904 at a World's Fair. 


Herbs can also be used to flavor iced teas such as basil, spearmint, mint, and rosemary. Yet, iced tea can be sweetened with honey, syrups, or a little bit of sugar. Blueberry syrup and ginger syrup can also sweeten ice teas. Iced tea can be served with sandwiches, steak, chicken, seafood, and with desserts. Drinking iced tea during the summer months continues to be a favored choice for summer meals or snacks.


National Iced Tea Month can be celebrated by serving iced tea at your family parties or family get together. You can take iced tea in a reusable thermos or reusable water bottle during your family picnics. Another way is to make your iced tea during your breakfast so you can take it to work in a reusable water bottle. Consume iced teas two or three times a week for its health benefits. Vary your iced teas and cold summer drinks with your meals. 


Iced teas are refreshing and cool drinks any time of the day. You can drink iced tea after swimming to cool off from a sizzling summer day. However, iced tea can only be stored for eight hours in the refrigerator. Therefore, it is best to drink tea on the same day you make it. Yet, lose leaf tea can last up to four days in the refrigerator.

When drinking iced tea in a glass or mason jar, you can use a saucer to place your stirring spoon. Additionally, you can leave a stirring spoon inside the glass.
