Salad with Pistachios


Pistachios have potassium, antioxidants, and fiber. It also has protein. These seeds are beneficial for your body because they help the cardiovascular system, the ocular system, and the digestive system. Also, pistachios are prebiotics which can help with digestive issues and can lower the risk of cancer and heart disease. You can add pistachios to your diet by adding them to salads, yogurt, and your trail mix but without the shells. 


It might help lower sugar levels for prediabetes and diabetes.  Yet, it is recommended to consume pistachios in moderation. These seeds can be yellow, green, purple, and red due to their antioxidants. Be careful with the sodium of the pistachios especially if you are on a low sodium diet. Pistachios make a satisfying snack. 


The shells of the pistachios are not edible. However, pistachio shells can be used in your garden as compost. Nonetheless, pistachios in salads taste delicious and awaken your taste buds. Before adding pistachios to your salads, remove the shells and separate the seeds. Here is a quick and easy recipe for making a salad with pistachios. 


Ingredients:


Cucumbers

Tomatoes

Sunflower seeds

Cabbage salad mix or other salad greens. 

Pistachios without the shells 

Salad dressing


Preparation and Salad Time:


In one bowl, open the shells of the pistachios and remove the seeds. Place the seeds in a bowl. Set the shells aside for your garden compost. Next, wash and slice the tomatoes and cucumbers. Add cabbage salad mixed to one bowl and add the tomatoes with the cucumbers. 

After that add the sunflower seeds and the pistachios. Mix the salad with your favorite salad dressing. Last, add slices of green olives with pimentos to the salad.
