National Wear Red Day (National Heart Month)
Every
first Friday of February is National Wear Red Day. This day brings awareness to
cardiovascular diseases and strokes in women. It is a day to wear red and focus
on your heart especially if you are a woman. Some women tend to ignore and not
take careful consideration when they have symptoms of heart problems. Sometimes
not giving importance to fast palpitations, sharp pain, and breathing too fast
can cause a stroke or a heart attack.
Numbness, loss of
vision, slurred speech, paralysis on one side, and loss of balance are symptoms
of a stroke. Also, too much anxiety can mimic a heart attack. Anxiety attacks
are caused by an anxiety disorder that has similar symptoms to a heart attack.
It is critical to get your heart evaluated immediately if you feel dizzy with
pain along with other symptoms. Get your blood pressure checked especially if
it feels like your heart is going to come out.
If you take birth
control pills, hormone pills, or natural hormone pills make sure to check your
blood pressure. Review your medications with your doctor about any side effects
and how they affect your heart. It is necessary to slow down, do breathing
exercises, and reduce your stress. The entire month of February is National
Heart Month. Although National Wear Red Day is for women's awareness of heart
diseases, men can wear red to show their support.
Get your
cholesterol checked out and find ways to eat healthier. Change your lifestyle
for the better. Do not ignore your symptoms if you feel weak, fainting,
shooting pain, or other symptoms. Wear red on the first Friday of February to
remind women about heart disease prevention. Here are websites about National
Wear Red Day.
