Yoga & Summer Tips
The
summer season is often filled with too many activities that can make one feel
tired, sleepy, and rushed to get everything done before the vacation ends.
Other times the summer season can make you feel depressed, stressed out, and
depleted. Yet, there are times when the summer heat prevents you from
exercising and can make you feel bored. However, practicing mindfulness and
yoga together can help you to continue your exercise routine throughout your
vacation. It improves your health and reduces your stress.
As well
as helping you feel flexible and feel energetic to do your summer activities.
Furthermore, yoga and mindfulness assist in helping you concentrate and
practice self-awareness. The summer season gives you time to do self-reflection
and to practice self-awareness. It helps you identify the items that you want
to improve, change, or want to understand as you meditate. Therefore, dedicate
some time to practice self-discovery and practice self-acceptance with a
positive mindset.
Focus on
how your body feels and observe your body’s capabilities. Hold the yoga poses
for thirty seconds or one minute. Yet you can hold a yoga pose for longer time
if you feel comfortable. After ten breaths, change your yoga pose. Think about
being in a cold climate as you stretch your muscles.
Meditating
with the intention to feel inner peace and using mantras to make you think you
are cold. Use nature sounds of snow falling, freezing wind, rain, and other
sounds to feel cold. Think about your feet, hands, and nose feeling cold as you
continue doing yoga poses. Focus on your breathing and roll your tongue with
your mouth open. Another technique is rolling your tongue inside your mouth as
you breathe.
Additionally
wear clothes made of fabrics that keep you feeling cool. Wear shorts and tanks
or cropped shirts if you are doing yoga at home or in a yoga class. If you are
uncomfortable in showing your belly button, stretch marks, or scars with crop
tops; You can wear an undershirt with the crop top. Make sure your yoga
outfit is appropriate for your yoga class, especially if they have a dress code
or class guidelines. However, you can wear anything that makes you feel
comfortable and feel cool during your summer yoga sessions.
Furthermore,
doing yoga poses that make you cool off is also recommended during the summer
months. Yoga can be done in the summer by incorporating yoga poses that
make you cool off from the heat. For example, you can do Legs up the Wall, Tree
Pose, Reclined Butterfly Pose, Thread the Needle Pose, Moon Salutations, Spinal
Twists, Supported Bridge Pose, Cobra Pose, and the Corpse Pose. These poses
assist you in moving slowly and to do each pose in sequence. Other poses you
might want to try are the Baby Pose, the Pigeon Pose, the Reclined Goddess
Pose, Low Lunge, Cat Pose, and the Child’s Pose.
Adding a
variation of lying down poses and standing up poses can help you stretch your
body during the summer season. If you feel dizzy, sleepy, or exhausted stop
doing your yoga poses. Have a room temperature drink after your yoga session.
