Recently, I came across an article in Woman’s World magazine about the use of the essential oil of Lavender. According to the article, there have been recent studies about the use of Lavender and how people have benefited from its use. The essential oil of Lavender can be used for anxiety, insomnia, and for cuts and bruises. The article suggests that by using a few drops of the essential oil of Lavender in a hot bath can help people who are suffering from anxiety. Also, according to WebMD, Lavender can be used for depression, headaches, and for pain. 


Lavender oil has a sedative effect and it is used to relax certain muscles. One way to use Lavender essential oil is with the use of a carrier oil and massaging the oil onto the skin. Another way is by inhaling the Lavender oil in a diffuser which will help as a sleep aid. Lavender oil is used to boost the blood circulation and helps with respiratory problems.  Lavender is widely used in Aromatherapy, lotions, and soaps. However, it is recommended to consult with your medical provider before using Lavender or any other essential oil; Because of allergic reactions or other contraindications. What is Aromatherapy?



Aromatherapy has been used for many centuries. Egyptians used the essential oils from certain plants for embalming, perfumes, cosmetics, incense, and for medicine. Aromatherapy is the extraction of oils from certain plants, such as Lavender, Peppermint, Rosemary, and other plants. In addition, only parts of the plants, flowers, bark, leaves, or the root of the plants are used for extracting the oils. Aromatherapy is used for alternative medicine for healing and for medicinal purposes.

Therefore, these essential oils can be used to balance our mind and to heal our body, mind, and spirit. The essential oils can be inhaled and absorbed through the skin. When using essential oils onto the skin, make sure you do a patch test before putting on the oils onto the skin. Also, essential oils need a carrier oil such as olive oil, avocado oil, coconut oil, and other vegetable oils because it dilutes the essential oils. However, if you are inhaling the essential oil, it does not need a carrier oil.  Carrier oils are odorless and usually do not have an odor. But, if your carrier oil has an unpleasant scent that means the oil has expired.



People who have insomnia, depression, and anxiety can benefit from Aromatherapy. Aromatherapy is used for headaches, digestive issues, and for reducing stress levels. Before using Aromatherapy, it is recommended to consult with your physician. Some essential oils that induce sleep are Lavender, Bergamot, Sandalwood, and other essential oils. Lavender is also used for anxiety. Last, some essential oils can be used to increase your energy levels and to stop sugar cravings such as Vanilla, Bergamot, and  Dill. Think Positive and Feel Positive

Sometimes, it is hard to stay positive throughout the year. However, through meditation, we can stay calm and release our tensions, worries, and negative thoughts. Every year that goes by, it gets harder for me to think positive. Some of the ways to think positive is by surrounding yourself with positive people. Always count your blessings and read positive affirmations.

Although, there are times, when we come across negative thoughts or negative people; we must stay strong and continue to stay positive. I don’t make New Year’s Resolutions. However, I try to stay positive. It is a challenge due to so many stressful events that may come across our paths. It is a time to forget our past or at least learn from what we have experienced. Also, it is a time to forgive, not to feel guilty, and try not to regret what has happened in our lives.
