Creating a Family Emergency Contact List

Creating a family emergency list will help you feel less stressed out when you are going through an emotional, frightful, and unexpected event. An emergency list also comes in handy when the school asks for emergency contacts for your child. Emergency lists should be kept in a place where you can see it and where your child can find it quickly. Today, I have created three emergency contact list forms. Each emergency contact form is free and for your personal use.

Here are three emergency contact forms that you can print. You can write down all your emergency contacts and color it. The coloring part is optional. However, it will make it more visible if you color it and keep it on the refrigerator door or in your binder. You can also keep it inside your planner too. The first emergency contact form has waves. The second contact form has hearts. Last, the third contact form has flowers and swirls. You can also print it out in a bright color paper so it can grab your attention when you need to contact someone during an emergency.

Eat Better, Eat Together in October

Eating better can be tricky especially if you have a busy schedule. Yet, when you eat together as a couple, as a family, or as friends, eating healthy might not be as challenging. Getting support from your husband or wife to eat healthier makes it easier to follow your weight loss goals or to feel motivated to eat in good health. One way you can support your husband or wife to eat healthier is by having a balanced breakfast such as oatmeal, fruit, and juice. Also, by alternating breakfast meals to a hard-boiled egg, toasted wheat or whole-grain bread, and avocado spread.

Breakfast should not be boring. It is important to have breakfast in the mornings because your body might have low sugar in the mornings. Additionally, breakfast gives you energy and might prevent a headache throughout the day. The second way, your husband or wife can help you eat healthier is if he or she joins you to eat together for all three meals or two meals throughout the day. Together you can have the same meals and give each other support.

Eating together motivates you to eat healthy balanced meals and to communicate better. Turn off or put your cellphone in silent mode when you are having meals together as a couple or as a family. Use different color plates, bowls, and mugs to make it pleasing to the eye. This will create a fun atmosphere to eat together and to socialize more. Make food with your children and with your husband. Take turns washing the dishes or cleaning up after having your meals.

There are a lot of recipes where you do not have to use the stove which will make you at ease for preparing food with your children and with your husband. For example, you can make tuna with crackers and have your entire family involved in the process. One person can chop the onions, another person can chop the tomatoes, and another person can get the bread or the crackers. By doing this the entire family will feel good, accomplished, and confident. Here is the recipe for making this simple tuna with crackers.

Ingredients:

1 big tuna can in water

1 or 2 tomatoes

½ of white or yellow onion

Mayonnaise

1 Lemon

Unsalted or Saltine Crackers

Open the tuna can and remove the water. In one bowl, add tuna and two or three spoons of mayonnaise. Wash one or two tomatoes and remove the seeds. Slice the tomatoes into small pieces. Toss the tomatoes inside the bowl with the tuna and the mayonnaise. Peel one onion and chop the onion in half. Save one half of the onion for later for another recipe. Using one half of the onion, chop the onion into small pieces.

Add the onions inside the bowl with the tuna, tomatoes, and mayonnaise. Wash one lemon and slice the lemon in half. Use a juicer or squeeze the juice from the lemon and pour it onto the bowl with the tuna and the rest of the ingredients. Stir the tuna and the rest of the ingredients in the bowl. In a tray, place the tuna bowl. Use two small cups or smaller bowls to place saltine or unsalted crackers inside the bowls. Place the smaller bowls on the side of the tray with a spoon. After that, you are ready to have tuna with crackers. You can serve iced tea or with your favorite drink to complement the tuna and the crackers. How to Make Your Autumn Affirmations?

Making your positive affirmations should take about five or thirty minutes to do. Yet, the affirmations should last a long time in your mind. Affirmations are constantly changed within a certain time frame because certain affirmations are seasonal. Therefore, personalizing your positive affirmations with each season will motivate you. You will not feel bored with the same affirmations.

For example, in the autumn season, you might feel sad, frustrated, and bored. Naturally, this is very common with the change of the season. Yet, using the word, " I" and " Myself" is a starting point for your autumn affirmations. Autumn is a time of introspection, recovery, and embracing transformation. In this case, autumn should also be a time of giving thanks.

Here is a list of my autumn affirmations to help you make your affirmations.

1. As the autumn leaves fall, I release my sadness.

2. Welcome and embrace the changes the autumn season brings.

3. I release all my pain and frustrations.

4. As this new chapter begins, I let go of all regrets.

5. I welcome this season with hope.

6. Open your heart to joy.

7. I am inspired and not bored with the changes of the season.

8. I look forward to the new things that are flourishing.

9. As the season changes, I too change for the better.

10. Autumn is beautiful with its changing leaves like the changes within me.

Thanksgiving cards are so easy and fun to make especially if you love to paint. This handmade card was painted by hand using acrylic paint except for the word “Thank You.” However, this card only takes about thirty or forty minutes to do mostly if you are painting really slow without the help of a stencil. Nonetheless, you can use a stencil or draw the pumpkin with a pencil. Here are the instructions for making this handmade thanksgiving pumpkin card.

Materials:

4 X 6 Photo Paper

Xerox Paper

4 different colors of Acrylic Paint (Orange) (Yellow) (White) (Green)

1 Black Sharpie Pen

Paintbrushes

Glue stick

Scissors

Glue xerox paper onto one side of the photo paper. Then, trim the edges with a pair of scissors. Glue another xerox paper onto the back side of the photo paper. After that trim, the edges with scissors. Fold the photo paper in half. Use one paint brush to paint one pumpkin on the center of the card. You can use a stencil to trace the pumpkin with a pencil or paint the pumpkin by hand.

Wait for the paint to dry. Use a second color of paint to paint the stem of the pumpkin. In this example, yellow was used to paint the stem of the pumpkin. Wait for the paint to dry. After that use green paint to paint the leaves on top of the pumpkin. Once again, wait for the paint to dry.

Last, use white acrylic paint to paint curvy white lines around the pumpkin and the stem. Wait for the paint to dry. Use one black sharpie pen to write the words “Thank You” on one side of the pumpkin. Wait for the paint to dry. On the back of the card, paint wavy lines all around the card. Then, paint polka dots around the card. Leave a blank space to write the words “Made by” and “Your Name.” After that you can write inside the card and use a standard envelope to mail your handmade pumpkin cards. National Domestic Violence Awareness Month & Verbal Abuse

Once again, it is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The entire month of October is dedicated to bringing awareness and to prevent domestic violence. Three out of five women are verbally abused by their husbands, live-in partner, or their significant other. While one out of ten men report that they have been verbally abused by their wives, live-in partner, or their significant other. Verbal abuse usually leads to domestic violence.

However, knowing the signs that a person is being abused verbally may prevent domestic violence. A person who does verbal abuse usually criticizes, insults, and accuses their live-in partner or significant other. Additionally, the person who does verbal abuse is full of anger and is manipulative towards the other person. It is difficult to leave someone that is constantly doing verbal abuse because of shame and what the family might say if you leave him or her. Also, if that person is the husband or wife of your children and is the only provider in the household.

First, do not be in denial about the situation. Second, find and seek the necessary resources to help you leave a verbal abuser. Third, get some counseling and attend domestic violence group meetings. Fourth, get a restraining order if you are afraid of your safety and the safety of your kids. Fifth, if you have to meet your verbal abuser because your children want to see their father or mother, always meet in a public place and have a list of all your emergency contacts on paper besides on the cell phone. October is Emotional Wellness Month

October is Emotional Wellness Month. Yet, managing our emotions should be done daily and before going to sleep. Identify what triggers certain emotions such as sadness, anger, frustrations. Next, learn how to express how you feel and make connections with people you can confide on. Do relaxation methods to help you balance your emotions such as walking, running, or your favorite hobbies.

Moreover, do what matters to you such as volunteering, caretaking, or helping others whenever you get a chance. It is necessary to stay away from people who tend to be negative, people who want to hurt you, and people who seem not to care. Also, take advantage if your job offers Workplace Wellness Programs to help you work efficiently at work. Emotional wellness should be a workplace priority besides taking work breaks within the job. Coping with Dyslexia

This year, the International Dyslexia Association has joined the International Go Red for Dyslexia Movement. Red was chosen this year to promote Dyslexia Awareness Month. Dyslexia Awareness Month is in October because more children are diagnosed with Dyslexia when they are in school. Other times, Dyslexia is also diagnosed as an adult in College. Dyslexia is a learning disorder that makes it difficult for the brain to process language and to comprehend what is being read.

The symptoms vary depending on age. Dyslexia symptoms are generally misspelling words, having difficulty pronouncing words, and having difficulty writing a summary of what was read. Yet, there are ways to help you get organized and make work easier. Using color paper, charts, and typing will make it easier to get the main points of information. Additionally, having sticky notes with diagrams to understand the information.

Dyslexia is also with numbers besides letters. But having the numbers repeated and the information repeated helps to memorize the information. It can get frustrating at times especially when your boss does not understand what dyslexia means. Therefore, it is recommended to tell your boss that you have dyslexia and employees are protected for having this learning disorder. Employees should not get discriminated for having dyslexia. Doing relaxation techniques also help you to cope with dyslexia. Here are more resources about Dyslexia Awareness Month.
