Learning with Dyslexia (Dyslexia Month)


Dyslexia is a learning disability and there are seven types of dyslexia. Phonological Dyslexia, Surface Dyslexia, Rapid Automatic Naming Dyslexia, Double Deficit Dyslexia, and Stealth Dyslexia are the five common types of dyslexia. However, Dyslexia is often misunderstood but they are intelligent. People who have dyslexia learn languages, reading, and numerical data differently. Dyslexia Month is in October of every year.

Phonological Dyslexia is about the sound and the phonetics of pronouncing words. This type of dyslexia can also be auditory and can make spelling words difficult when the student hears the words. Whereas Surface Dyslexia is about pronouncing words that are spelled differently than the way the words sound. This type of Dyslexia is often referred to as visual dyslexia because of transposing letters and numbers. It has nothing to do with a person’s vision.

When a student is diagnosed with dyslexia, parents tend to mistake it for an issue of eyesight. Yet, dyslexia is not an issue about vision but about reading, spelling, and numbers. Stealth dyslexia is harder to diagnose because students excel in reading comprehension. Nonetheless, this type of dyslexia makes phonetics and scrambling words a challenge. Last Rapid Automatic Naming Dyslexia makes it difficult to name visual items quickly and makes them think slower due to the pressure of responding quickly in class. 

Nevertheless, learning with dyslexia can be tricky but it is possible to learn anything at school or college. Sometimes memorizing photographic pictures or drawing can help comprehend stories that are being read aloud. Other times comparing notes with another classmate can help you with your note-taking in class. As well as finding learning apps to help you with phonics, spelling, reading, and sounding out words. Color coding items, using shapes, modeling clay, and other items can help you learn with dyslexia.

Learning with dyslexia does cause anxiety when learning in school or at home. It is recommended that speaking about dyslexia can reduce anxiety as a student. Get encouragement from your parents, family, and friends which makes the process easier to manage the anxiety. Seasonal Relationships


Seasonal relationships can be unhealthy for your emotional health especially if it involves winter coating, cuffing, and spider webbing. When winter arrives, some experience winter coating in their relationships. Winter Coating is when an ex or someone you know from your past relationships wants to get back in a relationship with you. However, winter coating is a short-term relationship that is unhealthy. This type of relationship is damaging because it leaves you confused and wanting a longer relationship. 


Winter Coating can hurt you financially. Yet this relationship changes your perspective towards your ex. It makes you believe that your ex has changed for the better. Also, it makes you believe that the relationship can last a lifetime. Nonetheless, winter coating makes you end your relationship when spring arrives. 


Another type of seasonal relationship is cuffing. Cuffing begins in the autumn season and can end on Valentine's Day. Ending a relationship on Valentine's Day is not a good day to break off from the relationship. Cuffing and other seasonal relationships begin because of loneliness before the holidays. Sadness can make someone have the desire to be in a relationship during the autumn and winter months. 


Additionally, cuffing makes it quicker to be in a relationship. Be aware that rushing into a relationship is something you might not enjoy. Short-term seasonal relationships can be harmless to your emotional health by communicating your boundaries in advance. Be alert to spider webbing in your relationship. This type of relationship lowers your self-esteem and self-confidence.


Spider Webbing is a form of manipulation, deceit, and emotional abuse. It creates chaos with your emotions, confusion, frustrations, and feeling trapped in the relationship. You feel you are being pulled into many directions within the relationship. Also, spider webbing can make someone ghost you and do love bombing at the same time. Gaslighting, breadcrumbing, and other harmful elements inside the relationship.


During the summer months, a person might do shading with the person they are dating. Shading is a form of neglecting the person you are in the relationship with. Ignoring you and not inviting you to events is also part of shading. You might feel isolated while being in a relationship with someone who does shading. Being someone's shadow is what makes shading to be unhealthy for your health.


Although not all seasonal relationships are like this, it is best to be cautious. It is merriment to be in a relationship with someone if there is mutual respect. Communicating upfront about your boundaries and your fears. Avoid being harsh, mean, and pessimistic in your relationship. If you feel your relationship is making you feel worse about yourself, do not be afraid to end your seasonal relationship.


A healthy relationship makes both of you grow emotionally. Relationships throughout the seasons can be permanent if you commit to each other in a healthy relationship. How to Prevent Workplace Bullying (National Bullying Prevention Month)


October is National Bullying Prevention Month. Bullying occurs in schools and at work. However, workplace bullying is often discarded if it is not taken care of. Working in a negative environment can create workplace bullying which makes a person not want to work there and feel uncomfortable with everyone. Employees who work in a negative environment sometimes have a hard time reporting to Human Resources about being bullied. 

The reasons for not reporting workplace bullying are fear of losing one’s job and fear of not getting a good referral for a new job. Bullying at work occurs when an employee is intimidated by another employee usually because of jealousy, their highly skilled abilities, and their personality. This intimidation causes friction between employees. Another way bullying is done is when an employee does not get credit for their work and makes them feel like a failure among their coworkers. Also, they make negative comments which makes them feel unappreciated for their work. 

Bullying can occur in many ways which affects you emotionally at work. Approximately fifty percent of employees are bullied at work for a variety of reasons. The reasons for being bullied at work are endless. Nevertheless, workplace bullying can happen out of fear of having a higher position at work, popularity at work, and feeling susceptible to your presence. The other reasons for being bullied is because of too much pressure at the job, anxiety, frustration, and insecurity. 

Workplace bullying must not be tolerated at any type of business. All employees must be trained and informed about workplace bullying. Furthermore, avoid participating in workplace gossip and negative comments to other employees. Know the warning signs of workplace bullying. Here is a list of the warning signals of workplace bullying.

  1. Gossip at work always occurs at any job. This is something that can never be avoided at any job.
  2. Employees separate themselves from one employee or more because of their level of expertise in the business.
  3. Saying and listening to inappropriate jokes that usually upset and hurt employee’s feelings.
  4. Giving too many job duties all at once and with less time to complete each job task.
  5. Inappropriate eye contact and making them feel uncomfortable.
  6. Laughing at employees due to how they are dressed, their accessories, or anything that they are wearing to work.
  7. Shouting, screaming, and doing angry hand gestures at an employee.
  8. Separating an employee on the side and telling them pessimistic reviews about their job performance in the office.
  9. Frightening and harassing employees if they do not change their work schedule or their work routine.
  10. Giving employees the silent treatment.

It is a concerning issue that continues in any type of business. Workplace bullying can also lead to abusive supervision from your boss or other employees which occurs frequently these days due to hidden high-tech security cameras. Nonetheless, workplace bullying causes a lot of tension, and conflict, and makes any employee feel vulnerable. As well as making employees skip work or call in sick because of workplace bullying. Handling situations of bullying is not an easy task, but needs to be taken care of before it gets worse at the job.

Preventing workplace bullying is the key to having better working environments within the workplace. Workplace bullying can occur online and outside of office work hours. Keep in mind that there are laws that protect an employee from being harassed. Workplace bullying does not occur in every business. Nonetheless, stay alert and aware of the workplace environment. 

Employees working in a stressful environment sometimes get headaches, feel sick at work, and feel tired. Businesses must have workshops that bring awareness of workplace bullying and other forms of harassment. Always seek professional help if you are dealing with workplace bullying. Additionally, some workplace bullying can be difficult to prove, especially if it ends up in a lawsuit. Therefore, it is recommended to document any incident of workplace bullying.

Keep any evidence you might have regarding the bullying. Report it to Human Resources. Get a lawyer and notify authorities if the workplace harassment has gotten worse. Mindfulness & Decluttering


Decluttering your home in a rush leaves you feeling tired and frustrated. The more items you try to organize and try to get rid of the more you feel stressed out. This also makes you feel remorseful. It is difficult to get rid of items because of the sentimental attachment. Yet, mindfulness can assist you in letting go of items so they can go to charity.

Although there might be some items that are harder to let go of emotionally; Mindfulness permits you to hold on to some things and let go of other things. You might find it difficult at first. To practice mindfulness while decluttering, it is helpful to practice thankfulness. Say kind words aloud before putting it away in the donation bag. Also, give away the items with a joyful attitude. 

Organizing, cleaning, and dusting can make you notice how your room looks, especially by practicing mindfulness. Mindfulness makes you slow down and look at every detail of each item that you are sorting. For example, sort through your sock drawer carefully and look for each pair of socks. Look at the colors, fabric, and designs on the socks. Search for the missing socks or have a box labeled missing socks. 

If you do not have time to look for the missing socks, save the labeled box and look for the socks on laundry day. Nevertheless, sort through your clothes, shoes, and under the bed for your missing socks. Match each pair of socks and fold them. Mend the socks by embroidering them or sewing any holes. Besides sorting socks, you can practice mindfulness with any type of clothing. 

When sorting, organizing, and storing your apparel; Remember to practice gratitude and say goodbye to your gently worn clothes that you no longer need. Nicely fold your clothes before giving them to charity. The autumn season is all about cleaning and organizing before the winter season. It is also a time of self-reflection about yourself and letting go of items you do not need anymore. The more you practice mindfulness, the more you can feel grateful and feel at peace in giving away the items. 

It is difficult and painful to let go of clothes that you enjoyed wearing throughout the years. However, if it no longer fits or your feelings toward the item have changed; It is best to give it away so someone can feel cheerful and can use it. Mindfulness can be practiced with any item in your home. It helps you move on so your home can be organized for your peace of mind. The more you practice mindfulness, the more peaceful and comfortable you will be in your home.

Clean your garage, sweep the floors, and have optimistic thoughts while cleaning. Organize one room at a time. How to Prevent Love Bombing?


Love bombing is a form of emotional abuse. This type of attention from your dating partner can be harmful and make you feel unsafe. Yet, love bombing still occurs in new relationships or before the relationship begins. First, love bombing begins with lots of compliments, and gifts, and all the attention is on you. Second love bombing makes anyone feel uncomfortable. 


Not all relationships go through love bombing. However, having an avoidant, anxious, or insecure attachment style can make anyone vulnerable to love bombing in their relationships. This form of attention is harmful because it makes them have control over you. It makes anyone nervous and panic when it occurs in the relationship. Also, love bombing can be obsessive, possessive, and compulsive. Love bombing can be prevented.


To prevent love bombing, you must have effective communication about setting your boundaries. If you must walk away from the relationship, let them know why the relationship is not working for you. Love bombing needs to stop because it can lead to gaslighting, ghosting, and obsession. However, knowing the warning signs of love bombing can prevent you from having this occur in your relationship. Love bombing is done frequently in the relationship, and you need to stay alert regarding the forms of manipulation that are done.


Too much attention makes anyone irritated. Also, it does not give them personal space between their work life, home life, and their relationships. Receiving gifts too early in the relationship is not good. The gifts are usually expensive and are done to lure you to them.   9. They want to make all the decisions without your opinions.
  10. They get angry if you are not wearing their gifts which are usually something you may not ordinarily wear daily.

Love bombing involves a lot of control tactics to get the person to fall in love with them. However, this is not what love is all about. Instead, love bombing makes anyone forget about themselves and be controlled by their partner. Constantly being in contact with them, isolating yourself, and muting your voice is not a healthy relationship. Most of all, one must have the choice to make decisions and share ideas with your partner with honesty, trust, and without feeling guilty.


To prevent a love bombing from occurring, one must be attentive, alert, and listen carefully to the person who is with you on your date night. If love bombing happens, do not be afraid in not contacting them. Seek professional therapy and practice self-love. Practice self-worth, self-care, and self-acceptance for your self-awareness. This makes you understand yourself and observe more about what you want in a relationship.

One must always end an emotionally abusive relationship to prevent it from getting worse. Connect with your friends, family members, and people you trust. Do not be forced into a love-bombing relationship or any relationship where you feel uncomfortable. Always practice self-respect, and self-discipline, and do not forget your self-worth. DIY Basic Denim Pillow


Throw pillows made of denim can add a comfortable look to any room. Denim pillows make nice throw pillows for your sofa, chair recliner, or bed. Making denim pillows by hand does take an hour or an hour and thirty minutes to sew them together. However, if you are using a sewing machine, it does make this project go quicker. Here is the tutorial for sewing this basic denim pillow with a needle and thread. 


Instructions:

Cotton stuffing


Use an old pair of jeans to make this simple pillow. Cut the fabric. Make sure the two rectangle pieces are the same size. After that, open the fabric of the leg pant area by cutting the fabric with scissors. Then flatten the fabric. 


Place the two flat fabrics together. Then begin sewing one rectangle piece. Sew each side of the fabric. Trim the leftover threads. Continue sewing all three sides of the fabric. 

Repeat the same steps for the second rectangle piece. Next, sew the two rectangle pieces together. Leave one side of the fabric open to add the cotton stuffing. Once it looks like a bag, fill in the pillow with the cotton stuffing. Last, sew the last section of the fabric. 

Denim pillows are fun and can be functional in any room decor. Throw pillows made of denim continue to be popular and make a fine afternoon sewing project. Handmade throw pillows can be washed. Remove the excess water with a towel and let it air dry. Enjoy your handmade denim throw pillow.

How to Overcome Loneliness in Autumn?


Overcoming loneliness in the autumn season is tough but it can be controlled by changing your thoughts. Autumn loneliness is different than summer and winter loneliness. Autumn loneliness causes anxious thoughts, doubts, and lots of stress. It makes you feel nervous and be more alert to noises at night. Loneliness in autumn makes you have more fatigue during the busy rush and anticipation for the holidays. 


The feeling of loneliness can be stopped by doing some things to change your thoughts. Loneliness can be emotional and makes you feel you have lost yourself through the process. Emotional loneliness needs all the emotions to be in a soothing status. Practice acts of kindness, do charity work or volunteer your time to keep you busy. Sometimes loneliness is caused by boredom and listening to all your emotions all at once. 


Loneliness can also occur in a social aspect. You might be surrounded by a group of friends and feel lonely. As well as grieving for someone makes you miss them and feel so empty inside. In this situation, loneliness can be overwhelming, and the feeling goes away after grieving. Spend time with everyone that you know and optimistically speak about your loved ones. 


Journaling, taking walks, and being aware of your thoughts can help you be less nervous as the seasons change. Join a club, support group, or nonprofit group to speak about your feelings and your hobbies. Find friendships where you share things in common. Love what you do in your job, and at home, and practice gratitude. Check and review your emotions to find the reasons for your loneliness. 


However, the hardest aspect of loneliness is when you remove your existence and the world. Existential loneliness is so challenging to find yourself and your purpose in life. It is an everyday struggle, but it needs to be treated. This type of loneliness can cause depression, fear, and severe anxiety if left untreated. Yet, this type of loneliness can occur to anyone who has no siblings. 


However, existential loneliness can be felt even if you do have siblings. Constant worry, no motivation, and being fearful all the time causes this type of loneliness. It is best to seek therapy and to have an emotional support system. Connect with yourself from a distinct perspective. As well as connecting yourself with nature and making connections with your friendships.

Nevertheless, loneliness can arise for many reasons in the autumn season. Take one day at a time to summarize your feelings, emotions, and your mood. Choosing Clothes for Your joy (National Color Day)


Every year on October 22nd is National Color Day! This day is about how color affects our mood, behavior, and physical aspects. Color has a significant ability to influence our thoughts on how we see ourselves and how we perceive others. Every time you select the colors for your clothing, you visually communicate to others your personality and your mood. Therefore, when selecting the colors for your clothing, make sure you reflect on how the colors make you feel emotionally.

Color can influence your emotions, self-esteem, self-confidence, and your body image. Some colors can influence one given emotion which can set your entire state of mind for that day. Select colors that make you feel happy with yourself and make you think positively about your body image. You can practice Dopamine Dressing or dressing for your happiness. Dopamine Dressing is about selecting color, style, and textures of fabric for your happiness.

Dopamine dressing helps you practice self-awareness. It makes you select your clothes with an understanding of your mood. Also, it assists in selecting your dressing style by being mindful of how you want to express yourself to others. After two weeks, you might feel a difference in how your thoughts change as you practice dopamine dressing. Besides practicing Dopamine dressing, you can practice color therapy for your emotional healing.

Keep in mind that you can wear any color that you select in your clothing. Nevertheless, choose your clothing style based on comfort, based on your body type, and your feelings. If you write in a journal, you can write about your dressing style and how it makes you feel. Writing about your feelings about how you dress can boost your self-esteem, self-confidence, and self-love. It makes you care about how you want to express yourself and visually communicate to others. 

Moreover, it is good to wear anything you want to wear if you feel comfortable wearing it. Choosing clothes for joy must not be stressful. Select your clothes ahead of time to reduce your wardrobe stress. Also, select colors that are appropriate to wear for each season. Although you do not have to follow each color trend for the seasons; Change your wardrobe seasonally and be conscious about how the colors affect your mind.

Barbecue Chicken with Coriander Seeds (Eat Better, Eat Together)


Making chicken barbecued with coriander seeds gives it a delightful nutty and citrus flavor. This chicken barbecue recipe does take a little bit of time to make but it makes a delicious meal for your holiday dinners or family gatherings. This chicken meal is paired with potatoes and with a pecan salad. Pecans are now in season. Pecans are in season from September through November and are used to make pies and other desserts. However, pecans in salads are a superb addition to any meal.

Pecans have vitamin A, vitamin E, Zinc, magnesium, and potassium. Consuming pecans helps with the cardiovascular system by lowering the bad cholesterol. Also, it can help manage sugar levels. Omega-3 is also found in pecans as well as folate. It is beneficial for the immune system.

Additionally, pecans have minerals, flavonoids, and fiber. It is a useful source of protein which is recommended for diabetes. Pecans can be added to any diet. Before using pecans make sure your family members are not allergic to tree nuts. Here is the recipe for making this chicken with barbecue and coriander seeds.

Ingredients:

Coriander seeds

Ground black pepper

Chili and lime

Oregano

One orange

Potatoes

Chicken bouillon or chicken broth

Barbecue sauce

One red bell pepper

One onion

Salad:

Shredded mozzarella or parmesan cheese

Grape tomatoes

Pecans

Baby Spring Mix

Preparation and Cooking Time:

In one pot add water. Wash the potatoes with the potato skin. Then, add the potatoes in the pot and boil the potatoes. Cook the potatoes for forty-five minutes or until they are soft. In another skillet, add sliced bell peppers, sliced onions, coriander seeds, and chicken broth. After that add the following spices to the chicken: Ground black pepper, oregano and chili and lime. Next, cook the chicken in the chicken broth for twenty-five minutes.

When the chicken broth is almost evaporating, add the juice of one orange. Continue cooking the chicken. After the chicken is soft and tender, slowly add the barbecue sauce. While the chicken and potatoes are cooking, make the pecan salad. Add baby spring mix in one bowl with shredded cheese and sliced grape tomatoes.

Turn off the stove when the chicken and the potatoes are fully cooked. Serve the sliced chicken with the potatoes. Add black pepper to the potatoes. However, ground black pepper on the potatoes is optional. Then, add the pecan salad to the side of the plate.

You can serve this meal with any non-alcoholic beverage. Use your favorite salad dressing or have two salad dressing choices for your family members or guests. Have your children participate in your family meals by setting up the dining table with napkins, utensils, or with the water glasses.
