Alternate Nostril Breathing & Peace of Mind



Finding peace may be a challenging task when you are surrounded by negativity or when you feel anxiety. Also, you might be having a good day when someone negatively comes to you. You might have a nervous habit when you feel negative energy. Therefore, finding peace in your daily tasks might not be easy to obtain. However, learning to relax your mind and body will help you feel peaceful. 


Lie down or sit down and do alternate nostril breathing. Practice breathing with your left nostril by covering your right nostril for two seconds. Alternate your breathing with your right nostril by covering your left nostril. Then, repeat your breathing slowly. You can do this with your eyes opened or closed. 


Alternate nostril breathing can be done before, during meditation, or after meditation. It calms the nervous system and your mind. If you have problems breathing through one nostril, then this relaxation technique is not for you. It takes time to practice this technique. You might need to use an essential oil diffuser such as eucalyptus, mint, or peppermint to help open your nasal passages. 


Make sure you are in a quiet environment. Practice alternate nostril breathing when you need a quick way to relax. You can do counting meditation with this breathing technique. Johnson's CottonTouch Moisturizer for Face & Body Review



Johnson’s Cotton Touch Moisturizer for the face and body lotion for babies is hypoallergenic. It has no parabens, no phthalates, no sulfates, and no dyes. Yet, it has a little bit of fragrance. This lotion is so gentle for babies and for adults that have dry skin. What I like about this lotion is that it has natural ingredients while it moisturizes the skin for twenty-four hours.

Although, this lotion is designed for baby’s skin, this lotion is good for adult dry skin too. It does not smell like the regular baby lotion. But it is so gentle and soothing for the skin due to the combination of water, cotton, and oils. The fragrance reminds me of vanilla and sweet fruits. The plastic bottle can be recycled.

All the Johnson and Johnson products do not test on animals. I have found this lotion to be beneficial for my morning routine because this lotion dries quickly on my face. It does not leave my skin feeling oily either. It is a good lotion for the face because it hydrates my dry skin without clogging my pores. Pink Shirt Day 2022


Pink Shirt Day is a day to bring awareness against bullying. On the last Wednesday of February, you can wear a pink shirt or a pink item to school, college, or to work. National Pink Day began in Canada when a student was bullied for wearing a pink t-shirt to school. Today, bullying continues in school, work, and online. Bullying is caused by low self-esteem, lack of attention, and the need to be important. 

A bullied child is left with emotional distress and with difficulties communicating.  Also, might not get enough sleep or eat enough. Therefore, bullying should not be tolerated in school and work. By participating in Pink Shirt Day and bullying prevention programs, future generations will enjoy being in school or work. Donate to Pink Shirt Day or participate in a fundraiser.

Preventing Addictions


There are many reasons to be addicted to alcohol, drugs, and porn. Yet, addictions are harmful in relationships. A person might become addicted to porn if their partner constantly shows them pornography. Also, if their physical needs are met and not their partner's needs. Therefore, a lack of communication, low self-esteem, and feeling unsatisfied in a relationship might lead to addictions. 

Often addictions begin out of curiosity as a teenager. Peer pressure, lack of self-esteem, and bad influences by relatives make the addictions to be difficult to quit. But addictions can be prevented in the early years of development. Encourage your teenager to have creative and athletic hobbies. Additionally, as a parent, set good moral standards for your teenager. 

If you or your partner are struggling with addictions, seek alternatives to quit the unhealthy habits. Delete, block, or eliminate pornography from your electronic devices. Get rid of the alcohol bottles and cancel your alcoholic beverage subscription of the month. Find ways to keep your mind busy during the withdrawal effects of your addictions. Talk to a therapist about your anxieties, depression, or other reasons for being addicted. 

Talk to your partner about quitting alcohol, drugs, or porn. Give support to your partner that is dealing with addictions. Do not force your partner to quit their addiction if they are not willing to make a change. Preventing addictions make your relationships healthier and happier. Meditation & Blood Pressure (American Heart Month)

 


The entire month of February is American Heart Month. Taking care of your blood pressure is one way of taking care of your heart. It is recommended to meditate before your blood pressure gets too high. Many yoga poses can help you reduce your blood pressure. Additionally, you can use bolsters and pillows to help you do the yoga poses. 

The reclining hero pose helps with the spine, digestion, and blood pressure. Use a mat and bolsters to lay down on the floor. Bend your legs so your feet touch your buttocks. Use bolsters to elevate your neck and spine. Your arms should be spread apart and your hands lying flat on the ground. 

Another yoga pose is the cobra. The cobra pose improves the respiratory system. It also helps circulate the blood flow. Lay down on your stomach and lift your spine. Keep your hands flat and bend your arms. 

The third yoga pose is the bridge pose. The bridge pose helps with headaches and your blood pressure. Have your feet lying flat on the floor. Bend your knees. Lift your back while you touch your ankles. 

Also, sit down on the floor and repeat a word many times. Practice counting meditation to relax. Meditation techniques can help lower your blood pressure by making you slow down. Yoga and meditation techniques are complementary health approaches to your healthy eating and blood pressure medicine. Consult with your primary doctor before doing yoga.

Practice mindfulness while you drink your orange juice. Drinking orange juice helps with high blood pressure. Add fruits and vegetables that contain potassium. Love Classical Music

 

Classical music adds a romantic and relaxing evening on Valentine's Day. Listening to classical music before dinner makes the evening to be comfortable and contemplative. If you want to awaken your deep emotions, you can listen to opera music. Opera began in the Renaissance era. This type of classical music combines singers and orchestra music which is recited or sung. 

Although not everyone likes to listen to opera, opera still brings tears and a mix of emotions. The aria, Habanera is filled with passion and seduction. This famous aria composed by Georges Bizet in the opera of Carmen is very moving. It is sung in French. This opera is intense and filled with romance. 

Another aria that brings tears was composed by Giuseppe Verdi in the opera of Aida. The aria, Celeste Aida means "Heavenly Aida". The theme of this opera is love and betrayal. It is sung in Italian. The entire opera of Aida brings a mix of emotions. 

Last another famous opera that brings tears of sadness is Tosca. The aria composed by Giacomo Puccini, E Lucevan le Stelle which translates to “, And the Stars were Shining" is an emotional composition. Also, the entire opera is suspenseful and romantic. Situationship


Undefined relationships are not harmful. However, the longer the relationship is undefined can be hurtful, unhealthy, and problematic. One undefined relationship is called Situationship. To be in a situationship means that your relationship is not defined, and you are together due to circumstances. Yet, this type of relationship is frustrating and confusing.

Situationship is different from a friend with benefits or a friend plus relationship. Instead, a situationship relationship is done when both partners are seeing other people, not wanting to commit, and for other personal reasons. An undefined relationship can be defined as a committed relationship. On the other hand, it can also stay undefined with rejection involved. These are the signs of being in this type of relationship.

  1. Plans are made at the last minute to see each other.
  2. You are only together out of boredom.
  3. Your partner is afraid of commitment.
  4. Your partner is seeing someone else and seeing you at the same time.
  5. There is romance but not enough for defining the relationship.
  6. Your partner does not want a meaningful relationship.
  7. You are only together because you have children with him or her without being married.
  8. You have things in common and continue being in an undefined relationship.
  9. There is no individual growth as a person.
  10. You do not know the other person that well except for the physical aspect. 

Being in a situationship creates questions that sometimes can not be answered. An undefined relationship brings hesitation. Therefore, it is best to define the relationship without questioning yourself. Give your partner time to analyze what you want from this undefined relationship. Be sincere and clear with your motivation for defining this relationship. 

No matter what the reasons are for being in this type of relationship, this relationship might work out. If this relationship does not work out, usually it is because of fear, in love with someone else, or denial of their feelings towards you. Often, a situationship relationship takes courage from one person more than the other. It requires honesty, motivation, and bravery to deal with this type of relationship. Mini Monogram Bag (National Embroidery Month)


Embroidery began in 30,000 B.C. It is considered an art form using a needle and thread. Hand Embroidery is done in detail or in a simplistic form to decorate tablecloths, napkins, cushions, apparel, and other items. There are approximately sixty types of hand embroidery techniques. Each technique can be basic, elaborate, and in fine detail.

Embroidery on fabrics can have a fine flat texture or a thicker texture depending on the design. Machine embroidery is easily distinguished in apparel and household items. The entire month of February is dedicated to embroidery. Below are links about embroidery and the different techniques. Here is the tutorial for making this mini monogram embroidered bag.


Materials:

Embroidery thread/floss

Embroidery needle

Scraps of fabric

Circle stencil

Letter stencil

Scissors


 


Instructions:

 

Cut the leftover fabric into a rectangular shape. Then, trace a circle and a letter inside the circle onto the fabric. After that insert thread inside the embroidery thread. Insert the embroidery needle and begin making stiches by following the lines of the circle. When the circle is complete, insert the embroidery needle in the corresponding lines of the letter.

 

When everything is embroidered, sew the rectangular shape with the embroidered back side of the fabric. Sew all three sides together. Then, fold the fabric upfront. Fold and sew the top part of the fabric. Now, you can use your mini monogram bag for your small items.

What is Qigong?



Qigong is a repetitive exercise for the mind and body. This exercise uses the five Chinese elements of wood, earth, water, fire, and metal. It is beneficial for cardiovascular, muscular, and respiratory health. Qi means breath, air, and energy. Gong means work.

By practicing Qigong, you will have better body posture and concentration. Qigong is a combination of meditation and body movement. You can stand up, sit on a chair, or walk while focusing on your breathing while moving your hands in various positions. This exercise also helps with your emotions. Qigong can be practiced in the morning for eight minutes a day.

It is like Tai Chi because of the slow movement and breathing techniques. Except that Tai-Chi is a type of movement meditation. Qigong focuses on meditation and internal thoughts. Both exercises help you relax and focus on your breathing. Here are more resources about Qigong.

National Send a Card to a Friend Day


Every February 7th of the year is dedicated to sending cards to a friend. National Send a Card to a Friend Day is an unofficial holiday to stay in contact with your friends through cards. Although, there are so many digital cards that can be sent through e-mails; A handwritten note is still considered a special message to give to a friend. Today, I have created three coloring cards for celebrating friendship and Valentine's Day. Each coloring card has a heart on the center of the card with a different design.

Cancer Prevention (National Cancer Prevention Month)


One way to prevent cancer is by getting your routine medical examination. Cancer is detected in a routine physical exam. Also, cancer is detected through blood and urine tests. Although not all cancers can be prevented due to family history and genetics. Yet, there are ways to prevent it through healthy eating, exercise, and making healthy habits.

Certain foods may prevent cancer such as broccoli, tomatoes, walnuts, berries, whole grains, and beans. Incorporate more vegetables, fruits, and legumes into your meals. Do not smoke and limit the amount of alcohol you consume. Limit the consumption of red meats. Eat less processed foods such as tv dinners.

Limit your exposure to the sun and wear sunscreen. Avoid getting a tan through a tanning bed. Additionally, get the HPV vaccine which is given to women and men up to forty-five years old. Another vaccine that is recommended is the Hepatitis B vaccine to protect your liver. Always consult with your primary doctor regarding your risks of getting cancer.

Exercise is important for preventing diseases including cancer. Walking, yoga or anything that makes your blood circulate is a good option for having an exercise routine. Maintaining a healthy weight also helps with other diseases as well as preventing cancer. Ghosting is a problematic aspect of online dating. Yet, it has increased throughout the years because it is a way to escape from dealing with the truth. A person automatically ghosts someone online because of low self-esteem, fear, and not being able to face the person with honesty. Therefore, a person might find ghosting a quick way to end an online relationship with someone. Ghosting is a form of emotional abuse.

The probability of preventing ghosting is to a lesser extent due to online dating, online applications, and anywhere you can chat online. Twenty-five percent of people have been ghosted online. Ghosting someone does not mean that the person did not like you. In fact, it has to do with the person’s confidence and lack of communication. After a person has been ghosted, he or she can do the following.


  1. Send a quick message or a reply to the person that ghosted you.
  2. Do not send multiple text messages or e-mails.
  3. If there is no explanation for his or her ghosting, then move on.
  4. Do not take it personally if he or she ghosted you.
  5. Allow time to heal from being ghosted.
  6. Do not continue with the friendship with the person who ghosted you.
  7. Do not stalk the person that ghosted you which includes viewing their profiles, sending messages under an alias, or doing prank telephone calls.
  8. Do not follow the same behavior pattern from the person that ghosted you.
  9. If you do not understand the person’s explanation, ask questions but not too many.
  10. Respect yourself and your mental health. 

Recognizing the signs of ghosting is important in any new and old relationship. A person might send one sentence, one word, or a song to end the relationship. Furthermore, a person might not reply after a month or a year after receiving a text message. Yet, a person would avoid certain topics weeks before ghosting someone. He or she might be unavailable, busy, and leave the relationship in silence. 


Ghosting someone shows that he or she did not care after you dated. Additionally, it shows the lack of communication, connection, or chemistry there was in the relationship. Ghosting does not occur when there is open and honest communication between him or her. National Homemade Soup Day


Every year on February 4th, you can have a delicious homemade soup. Soup is so beneficial for the immune system. This day is called National Homemade Soup Day. People around the world can share their recipes on National Homemade Soup Day. Also, making soup at home will warm you up and your home. 

There are many ways to make homemade soup. You can add meat, chicken, or fish and vegetables to make a delicious soup. Additionally, you can add pasta and vegetables. Furthermore, you can make a meatless soup like in this example. Here is the recipe for making this homemade soup.

 

Ingredients: 

 

Frozen Petite whole green beans 

Frozen Yellow, Green, and White Cauliflower 

1 Butternut Squash

2 Zucchini 

1 Whole Cabbage

One bunch of green onions 

1 or 2 Yucca Root

Spices:

Chicken Bouillon

Curry

Turmeric

Teriyaki Sauce (Optional)

Preparation and Cooking Time: 

Begin by washing the vegetables except for the frozen ones. Chop and slice the cabbage into small pieces. Peel the butternut squash and chop the ends. Chop the squash in several pieces. Remove the seeds of the butternut squash. 

Next, in one pot add the cabbage and butternut squash. After that slice the zucchini. Slice the green onions. Let it cook in water for several minutes. Add the frozen green beans. 

Continue cooking the vegetables. Then, add the curry, turmeric, chicken bouillon and stir everything. Peel and chop the yucca into small pieces. Cook the yucca root in another pot with water. Last, add the frozen cauliflower to the main pot. 

Cook everything for one hour in a half or until the vegetables are soft. Once all the vegetables are soft, serve the yucca root in soup bowls. Add the rest of the vegetables and broth to the soup bowls. This soup serves four people. You can add teriyaki sauce to give a sweet and salty flavor to the vegetable soup. Enjoy!

National Optimist Day



According to Roy T. Bennett, “Start each day with a positive thought and a grateful heart.” Every first Thursday of February is National Optimist Day. To feel optimistic begins with your inner chatter. Also, to have gratitude to feel positivity in your life. Yet, there is more to it than to think positively.

Often being in the wrong job will make you realize how unhealthy it is for your mental health. Having a good attitude might not be enough when you are in a negative work environment. Accept the negative situation and make a change in your work field. In every situation accept change and work around the positive aspect. Have hope that every change will make a difference in your attitude. 

Additionally, do not get discouraged when something negative occurs in your life. There will be times when you are faced with people who judge, have jealousy, or act distinguished from others; Do not let them make you feel nonexistent, worthless, or shameful of yourself. Instead, be yourself and be careful in having celebrities as role models. Accept your individualism. Do things you enjoy such as coffee breaks, tea breaks, self-care, hobbies, or other things that make you feel good. 

Practicing positivity eventually will be second nature to you. Cultivate a positive outlook for yourself and your family. Teach them that chores can be fun with positive thinking. Doing chores without thinking negatively makes them have a good attitude. Here is a list of ways to feel optimistic.
