How to Heal from Disappointment?

Disappointments can sometimes make you feel frustrated, upset, and fearful. Frustrated especially when you could not get the job or the love you want to receive. Yet, it makes you feel afraid of continuing to look for the right job or person to love. However, do not think of it as a failed attempt to achieve the right job or the right relationship for you. Look at it as a steppingstone.

Every stone is unique, colorful, and brings a decorative element to landscaping. But, in a personal aspect, each stone can represent your disappointments which will always be there. First, accept and be thankful for that experience it brought in your life. Second, do not give up because eventually, you will find the right job or person who can love you. Third, do not be hesitant and ashamed in believing it was all your fault.

Instead, keep yourself busy. Consider what is best for you and the other person in the relationship or their happiness. Take care of yourself in terms of your appearance, emotional health, and physical health. In time, you will be able to heal from disappointments. Here are more resources about overcoming disappointments.

Hot Apple Spice Tea

Every time the holidays arrive or when it is too cold outside, it is the best time to make hot teas. Drinking hot tea is so comforting especially during the autumn and winter season. Adding fruit to hot teas gives it more flavor. However, dry fruit tends to have too much sugar if you are trying to control your sugar levels. This hot tea recipe does not have that much sugar because of the natural fresh fruit.

You can add apples, pineapples, or any other fruit. Yet, if you are watching your sugar levels, it is best to stick to one or two fruits for making your hot teas. Nevertheless, this tea only uses a few ingredients and has a delightful scent. It is the perfect tea for relaxing and watching a good movie on television. Here is the recipe for making this hot spiced apple tea.

Ingredients:

1 Red Apple

1 Cinnamon Stick

Cinnamon Powder

1 Pineapple Tea Bag

2 Chamomile Tea Bags

Sugar (Optional)

Hot Water

First, add one cinnamon stick to one pot of water. Second, add the tea bags to the pot. Third, wash and peel one red apple. Remove the core of the apple and slice the apple. Chop the apple slices into cubes.

After that add the cubed apple slices inside the pot with the tea bags and cinnamon. Wait for the water to boil or until the water turns to a darkish red color. Last, remove the tea bags. Then, immediately serve the tea. This recipe is for one person. But this recipe can be adjusted by adding more apples and cinnamon sticks when you are serving this hot tea for more than one person. Have a safe Thanksgiving. Below are more resources about apples, cinnamon, and tea.

DIY Painted Plastic Clear Bathroom Organizer

Since this clear plastic bathroom organizer had two minimal cracks on the sides when it was purchased at the dollar store; I decided to paint flowers over the cracks. This gave it a different decorative look and for the cracks to be less noticeable. Using the same acrylic paint colors of my painted soap dispenser and the same painted flower style; This clear plastic bathroom organizer made a great addition to my bathroom décor. Here is the tutorial for making your own painted clear plastic bathroom organizer. This project will only take approximately one hour to do.

Materials:

4 different colors of Acrylic Paint

Paintbrushes

1 Clear Plastic Bathroom Organizer

1 Clear Topcoat of Paint

First, paint the stems of the flowers. Since there were cracks on this clear plastic bathroom organizer, I used Hunter Green acrylic paint color to cover the cracks. Second, wait for the paint to dry. Next, using another paintbrush, paint the middle part of the flower. In this case, I used yellow acrylic paint. Third, paint the flower petals in any color. Repeat the same steps for painting the back of the bathroom organizer and the sides of the organizer.

Wait for the paint to dry. Fourth, paint a lighter color on top of the flower petals. Wait for the paint to dry. Fifth, add a clear topcoat of paint to the entire design. Last, wait for the paint to dry. Have fun painting your bathroom organizers.

National Gratitude Month (November)

This year National Gratitude Month is somewhat different because of the pandemic. Yet, this should not stop you from saying “Thank you” to the people who have helped you grow and become the person you are now. Writing thank you e-mails might seem impersonal, but it does make a difference to the person who is receiving the e-mail. Another way to practice gratitude is by adding thank you quotes to the personalized e-mails that you can send to your co-worker, friends, and acquaintances. Also, explain why you chose that specific thank you quote to that person in an e-mail or a private message on social media.

The other way to say thank you is by writing a personal thank you list for the items you are thankful for this year. The thank you list can also help you write the thank you e-mail to the people you want to say thank you. Also, if you want to add your voice, you can send a thank you video to your friends, family, acquaintances. Make sure you know exactly what you are going to say in the thank you video before sending it to the person. Another tip is to practice several times what you are going to say in the video.

Practicing what you are going to say will help you not feel uncomfortable, awkward, and nervous before making the video. You can also take a picture video and write what you want to say to your friends and family. Saying thank you is not hard to say but you must feel it internally to say it. Last, you can participate in a thank you challenge on social media by writing a brief list or taking a photo of what you are thankful for without including personal details. Here are more resources about National Gratitude Month.

Meditation for Trapped Emotions

Trapped emotions are emotions that can not be released when an event or a trauma occurs. Often, those trapped emotions makes a person feel anxious, sad, and not willing to receive love from loved ones. Also, it might lead to unexplained pain, digestive issues, and an undiagnosed medical condition. When this happens, it is best to practice meditation and to seek professional help from a therapist. Movement meditation can release the tension and the pain that is caused by trapped emotions.

For example, dancing in slow movement improves your mood and your overall health. It alleviates any ailments your body had, and it releases hidden emotions. Sometimes, those hidden emotions will surprise you, make you laugh, or cry when it is released. Another way is by expressing yourself through writing or by making art to express those emotions that can not be expressed through speech. Last, by doing Qigong which uses meditation, breathing, and body postures will help release stuck emotions. Here are links to resources about trapped emotions and about Qigong.

National Alzheimer's Disease Awareness Month (November)

Once again, it is National Alzheimer’s Disease Month. Alzheimer’s might be a difficult topic to discuss and hard to understand. It is also a confusing, anxious, and nervous time for the family that is going through a loved one’s Alzheimer’s process. Yet, there might be some hope for finding a cure for Alzheimer’s. Doing brain exercises, being physically fit, and reducing stress may help to prevent Alzheimer’s.

Doing physical activities such as gardening, yoga, and tai-chi, may prevent Alzheimer’s and will reduce too much stress on the brain. Listening to music and trying to guess who sings the song or the name of the song is a fun way to exercise the brain. Also, joining a book club will help the brain to remember what is being read. Also, reading the same book with a friend will help you discuss in detail what you read and understood. This will help your memory. Here are more links to other websites about National  Alzheimer's Disease Awareness Month.

Relax with a Gel Eye Mask

Today is National Stress Awareness Day. One way I like to relax is by using a gel eye mask with beads. Relaxing with a gel eye mask helps your tired eyes to reduce puffiness and to reduce dark circles. When you apply a cold gel eye mask, the cold temperature diminishes the dilated vessels and the appearance of dark circles. It awakens you especially if you got fewer hours of sleep the night before.

Make sure the eye gel mask has an opening for your eyes and straps to fit the mask around your head. The second way, I like to relax is by doing a facial massage at home with a scrub or with a face lotion. Massaging around the eyes, forehead, and cheeks. Sometimes, I do a facial massage using a jade massage roller. Last, massaging the eyebrows and ears with my fingers makes me feel relaxed. Here are more resources about gel eye masks, dark circles, and National Stress Awareness Day.

DIY Charm and Beads Necklace

This star necklace is easy and quick to make with broken chains, jump rings, beads, and a charm in the shape of a star. You will need big jump rings to create the center of the necklace. The focus of this necklace is the star and the beads. However, you can use the same technique using different charms for the center of the necklace. This necklace only has three color beads.

I used red, dark green, and yellow beads inside a jump ring. Yet, you can use any color combination to make this charm necklace. This necklace can be made as a gift or for yourself. You can make this necklace using your favorite colors or your friend's favorite colors. To make this necklace, you will need the following materials.

Materials:

Three different colors of small round beads

13 big jump rings

2 small jump rings

1 lobster clasp

2 broken chains

1 charm

Jewelry pliers

Begin with the two broken chains and the jump rings. Connect one jump ring with one broken chain with jewelry pliers. Next, connect another jump ring to the first jump ring. Continue adding the jump rings until it is a total of ten jump rings. After that add one broken chain to the tenth jump ring.

Use jewelry pliers to close all the jump rings in place. Add one small jump ring to the end of the chain. Close the jump ring. Then, add a second small jump ring to the other side of the chain necklace. Close the jump ring. Add one lobster clasp to one side of the chain necklace.

Next, add three small beads to one big jump ring. Find the center of the chain necklace and insert the jump ring with the beads. Close the jump ring. After that add more beads into a second big jump ring. Attach the second jump ring with the beads to the other side of the necklace. Close the jump ring. In the middle of the jump ring with the beads, insert one jump ring with a charm. Close the jump ring with the star charm. Have fun making this charm and bead necklace.

National Healthy Skin Month in November

Today is the beginning of National Healthy Skin Month. The American Academy of Dermatology promotes National Healthy Skin Month every November to prevent and to treat skin issues. Did you know that your skin is the fifteenth percent of your body weight? The skin is the largest organ that sometimes gets neglected with your busy schedule. There are several skin types such as oily, dry, combination, and sensitive. One way to take care of your skin is by using lukewarm water and not at a hot temperature.

Yet, knowing the type of skin that you have will make it easier to purchase the right skincare products. First, consult with a dermatologist to know if you need water-based or oil-based products for your skin. Second, have questions for your dermatologist about whether you need salt scrubs, sugar scrubs, or a different type of scrub. Third, try the products for two weeks to see if you notice a difference in your skin's texture. Drinking water also helps your skin to stay hydrated and to have a natural glow.

Always do a patch test when using a skin product. Notice how your skin reacts such as burning, redness, or acne breakouts. Last, eating healthier nourishes your skin. Avoid using harsh chemicals on your skin and wear rubber gloves when you clean your home.  Here are more tips for taking care of your skin.
