How to do Meditation, Mindfulness, and Mint as a Beginner?

Meditating with candy canes or with mint candy can help you relax and get pain relief from winter headaches. Yet, smelling the scent of mint can also help lift your mood as well as enjoying five minutes of relaxation. After celebrating the holidays, you can practice meditating with candy canes or with mint candy to help your digestive system. Alternatively, you can meditate with mint tea or herbal tea with spearmint, peppermint, or lavender with mint tea. Nonetheless, meditating with mint can freshen your breath, help with indigestion, and can help you be alert.

You can practice mindfulness with mint tea or mint candy. Inhale the mint scent and exhale by saying " My intention is to relax". Taste the mint candy or your mint tea. Hold your teacup with both hands and then drink slowly your tea. Lastly, practice a gratitude intention such as " My intention is to say thank you for this cup of mint tea."

Alternatively, you can practice meditation or mindfulness with mint candy or leftover holiday candy canes. Unwrap the candy cane carefully and slowly without breaking it. Then, smell the mint candy. After that taste, the mint candy and feel the mint opening your nasal passages. Inhale and exhale slowly.

However, if you have no mint candy or tea at home; You can still meditate with mint by using mint essential oils in lotion, oil, or in a diffuser. Add a few drops of cinnamon essential oil, vanilla oil, or lavender oil in your diffuser. Do breathing exercises by inhaling and exhaling while enjoying the blended scents of the essential oils. Stretch or move your body as your room is filled with the mint scent. Finally, draw candy canes in your journal or color candy canes from a coloring book.

Before you meditate or practice mindfulness with mint, consult with your primary physician. You can practice meditating or practice mindfulness with mint once a week or once a month. Add mint leaves in your water with lemon slices or other fruit slices and sip the water slowly. Write thank you in your journal or meditate in your garden with your mint infused water. If it is too cold to be outside in your garden, visualize your garden and visualize yourself sitting on a bench.

Sip your mint infused water in small sips. Visualize yourself sitting calmly on a bench as you visualize the aroma of your herbal garden and flowers. When you are done drinking your water, eat the leftover mint leaves and fruit slices. Listen to a guided meditation as you eat your fruit slices. Finally, you can throw lemon slices as compost in your garden especially if the lemon slices are too sour for you to eat.

You can also write down in your journal what is bringing you joy for today or what you look forward to doing for the day. Mint can help you manage your emotions but make sure you are comfortable in using mint for your meditation or mindfulness practice. Another way is to use mint shampoo or mint conditioner to wash your hair as you slowly wash your hair as you shower. Always consult with your primary physician before using mint because of medications, breastfeeding, or for allergy relief.
