Celebrate National Spread Joy Day in October

Surprising someone with an unexpected gift, coffee, cosmetics, or a care package can make someone feel better and joyful. On October 11th, you can celebrate National Spread Joy Day anonymously by paying for someone's meal at a restaurant, giving an extra unused drink cup, or tipping someone's meal at a restaurant. Purchase cosmetics, perfume, soaps, and other items that a busy mother might need. Then make a gift basket using the items that you purchased to give to your neighbor that just had a baby. Another way is to give items for free by asking your neighbor community or donating items to someone that you know is having a garage sale.

Also, if you know that a school needs gently used printers, you can donate it anonymously. Another way is by donating extra school supplies to a school to help spread joy to schoolchildren. Participating in spread joy day by helping with humanitarian aid, acts of kindness, volunteering, and offering to help someone in silence. Donate extra books to the library, reading center, or tutoring centers for students to use for book reports. Additionally, you can use joy quotes on social media and spread joy with uplifting quotes.

Make a compliment and smile at someone in the elevator, when you are climbing stairs, on your way to work, or before doing your errands. Let someone go in front of you in line, inside the elevator, or let someone else use the washing machines, especially if you only need to use one washing machine. Donate gently used clothing and toys to charity. Congratulate someone for a job well done at the place where you do volunteering. Smile and serve a meal in the place where you volunteer.

Hold the elevator door or open a door to someone before entering a new restaurant or store. Help someone with new office supplies or pay for someone’s lunch at work. Go on a joyful walk in a group. Practice giving positive feedback during the joyful walk. Nonetheless, spreading joy can help you improve your friendships, romantic relationship, and your social connections.

Remind yourself to do acts of kindness, to smile, and to wave hello to people that you come across. Celebrate National Spread Joy Day with food, a smile, and donating extra items to a community center. Have a calender or a journal to write down reminders to donating to charity, make joyful art, and end conversations joyfully. Give out coloring pages, puzzles, or crayons to someone that you know and do the activities together. Here are websites with more information.
