Materials:
River Rocks
Acrylic Paint
Mod Podge
Paintbrushes
Q-tips
Paper or Cardboard
Cotton Balls
Paint Palette (optional)
Instructions:
Gather all the materials. Wash the River rocks. Next, when the rocks are dry, begin painting the first layer of paint onto the rocks. Use a thick paintbrush to paint the entire rock. After that paint the rock again to make sure the entire rock is covered with paint.
Wait for the paint to dry before painting the letters and flowers. Paint one item at a time and wait for the paint to dry so that the paint does not smear. Also, it is recommended to use a thin paint brush to paint smaller details. Alternatively using a Q-Tip can help to paint smaller elements onto the rocks. Begin painting a flower without the stems and the leaves.
It is necessary to have several sizes of paintbrushes because it can help you control the amount of paint that is being used onto the rock. Avoid too much paint to avoid getting paint lumps. After the flower is painted, wait for the paint to dry. Next, paint the stem and the leaves. Finally, paint one letter.
Wait for the letter to get dry. Use a Q-tip to make polka dots and a cotton ball to spread the metallic acrylic paint onto the painted letter. Another tip is to make sure your paint palette is clean to add metallic acrylic paint onto it. Additionally, continue painting polka dots until you have covered the entire rock. Nonetheless, you can use an empty egg carton to use a paint palette for painting your rocks.
Lastly, wait for the paint to get dry before adding mod podge. Mod podge will seal the entire painted rock. Follow the instructions of applying the mod podge. Once the painted rocks are coated with mod podge and are fully dry, place the rocks in a basket, in a tray, or in a potted plant.
