Valentine's Day: Love Meditation, Love Mindfulness, & Things to Do
Every year on February 14th is Valentine's Day. However, there are times that you might feel that you are missing something. Also, you might want to consider being more creative every year when planning a romantic or loving day on Valentine's Day. It can feel overwhelming and not knowing exactly what your partner wants to do on Valentine's Day. Nevertheless, you can celebrate Valentine's Day by practicing a loving-kindness meditation, love meditation, or adding the theme of love to your mindfulness practice.
Begin your morning by stretching slowly and practicing diagonal steps. You can do stretches by yourself or with your partner. If you are practicing diagonal steps with your partner, you can put the diagonal steps into a dance routine to start your morning together for Valentine's Day. As well as practicing diagonal steps with an exercise stepper. Other exercises that can be included can be the following:
- Shoulder External Rotation
- Bodyweight Squats
- Prone Back Flys
- Internal Hip Rotations
- Cossack Squats
- Step Downs
- Banded Lateral Walk
- Walking Backwards
- Fire Hydrant Lifts and Kicks
- Leg Circles
After exercising in the morning, you can take a break by drawing a heart with heartfelt affirmations inside the heart. Color the border of the heart with the first color you see. Make several hearts with various colors for the borders and color pens for the affirmations. Then hang the paper hearts with the affirmations in your room. Next, make three or six paper hearts with affirmations for your committed dating partner.
You and your dating partner can select a paper heart with one affirmation before going on a date. Another way is to practice mindfulness when you are getting ready for your date. Wash your face, your hair, and carefully comb your hair. Use your senses as you comb your hair. Then tell yourself that you look amazing as you style your hair.
Use an essential oil in a diffuser as you style your hair. Breathing deeply and slowly as you focus on your hair or hair accessories. After that write in your journal about how you are feeling at that moment. If you have five minutes for mindfulness, you can draw emojis or draw mini hearts as bullet points. On the sides of the bullet points, write what you like about yourself and your dating partner.
Separate your bullet points into two columns. Alternatively, you can make an origami paper heart, paper heart puzzle, or paint a watercolor heart. Write what you like about yourself and your partner inside the paper hearts. Draw flowers inside the paper hearts or use flower stickers. Say thank you to yourself as you hang paper hearts on a string.
Practice deep breathing as you slowly draw or paint a heart on paper. Decorate your dining table with heart shaped flowers and put heart stickers on a flower vase or make a heart with flower petals. Take a picture of the flower heart petals and add it to your scrapbook. Listen to a love song as you practice deep breathing. After that meditate with a rose, a heart shaped rock, or with a paper heart to help you focus.
Another version is by making a scrapbook page with paper hearts and positive affirmations. You can also add handwritten love quotes inside the paper hearts with your pictures and your date. Use acid-free pens and acid free paper to make a scrapbook page or a scrapbook frame. Cut the paper hearts slowly and make sure you like the quotes before gluing it onto your scrapbook page. Also, add a thank you paper heart for both of you.
Use one paper heart to give thanks to each other. Write on one side of the paper heart. Then your partner can write on the other side of the heart. Fold the paper heart in half or use a ruler. Place the paper heart in an area where both of you can see it.
If you are having a disagreement, use the paper hearts as a reminder of your togetherness and love. Listen to a guided meditation as you make a love painting, love poetry, or a three items thank you paper hearts. If you are in your backyard, you can draw hearts with chalk on the ground. Take pictures of the chalk hearts to add to your scrapbook. Here are websites with more ideas to have a relaxing Valentine's Day.
