College: Denim Day 2026
Denim
Day can bring awareness in college by preventing sexual violence and sexual
assault. It is a day to wear denim in college and to use the hashtag, “Denim
Day in your social media. Although sexual assault is not spoken that often in
college campuses, it is mentioned in the college newspaper or monthly
newsletters. To bring an understanding about preventing sexual assault and
sexual violence, it is necessary to talk about it with your college classmates.
As well as being alert, having a whistle, and keeping an eye on your
surroundings.
Avoid being alone
with someone you do not know. Also, if you notice anything that you do not feel
comfortable when dating; Use an escape plan with someone you can trust. Do not
force yourself to stay longer on your date, especially if it feels
uncomfortable. Observing your surroundings, observing your date, and observing
other's behaviors can help you notice more of what is going on. If your date is
drunken, do not stay alone with them especially if they force themselves to be
sexually intimate.
It is important
to be safe when you are dating in college. Additionally, understanding your
date's behaviors, actions, and reactions can make you decide to be in the
relationship. Do not assume that everyone in college has a healthy dating
relationship. Another recommendation is to listen carefully with an open
mindset and understand your comfort level when dating someone new. Wear your
hair up and make sure they cannot grab your hair when you are dating.
Besides that,
avoid having harmful conversations such as jokes, comments, or excessive
conversations about your body in a sexual manner. When dating in college, it is
necessary to understand and know the signs of sexual violence, sexual assault,
sexual harassment, and domestic violence. Support survivors in college by
listening to them and having a support group in college. Find resources in
college from the psychology department in college as well as resources from the
medical clinic near your college if possible. Wear denim on the last Wednesday
of April.

to arrange with strips of denim. Have a vase with denim fabric and make denim
flowers with a note filled with affirmations or words of encouragement.
