Self-Care: Updating Your Routine, Chronotypes, & Ideas

To begin a self-care routine can be useful for improving your overall wellness. Yet, not knowing where to begin can be daunting. It is necessary to review the activities that you like to do for your physical and mental wellness. Evaluate what you need to improve or add for better sleep and for your physical wellness. Dedicate some time for self-care activities on International Self-Care Day and throughout the year.

Self-care activities can be difficult to select every day because of one’s emotions, energy levels, and your stress levels. Also not having enough time due to busy schedules. As well as having other priorities and not getting time for oneself. It is essential to find ways to add self-care activities using the five pillars. Begin by selecting one activity based on the seven pillars of self-care such as physical, mental, emotional, social, spiritual, recreational, and environmental.

It is important to motivate yourself to exercise, eat healthier, and to try new things. Practice self-creativity, self-determination, and self-appreciation for a self-care routine. Do not forget to include self-compassion, self-acceptance, and self-worth for emotional wellness. Make a list of activities, a chart, a calendar, or a self-care activities box to use on a weekly basis. Nonetheless, re-evaluate your social connections and online social networking as part of your self-care.

Lastly, think about your spiritual well-being for inner peace and self-love. Often including environmental and recreational activities can help you with your physical, mental, and spiritual aspects. For example, you can do mindfulness activities, meditation, forest bathing, and mind and body exercises. As well as keeping in mind of your chronotype for developing a self-care routine throughout the seasons. Keep track of your energy levels, sleep, and any changes that might interfere with your self-care routine.

If you are a dolphin chronotype, you might prefer to do physical self-care activities in the morning and self-care activities for sleep in the evenings. However, if you are a bear chronotype, your self-care routine can begin in the morning with physical and mental activities. Similarly, if you are a lion chronotype, it can be helpful to do self-care activities in the morning. Lastly, if you are a wolf chronotype, you might enjoy doing self-care activities in the evenings. Ensure that you keep track of self-care activities and learn to understand your chronotype for developing a self-care routine.

Alternatively, think about sleep phenotypes for your sleep and wake cycle. This can help you make a self-care plan based on your sleep phenotype. You can find a quiz online to find out if you are a good sleeper, insomnia sleeper, afternoon or evening napper, catch up weekend sleeper. Another way to updating your self-care routine is by reducing conflicts, toxic communication, and decluttering for your inner peace. Updating your self-care routine throughout the months or the seasons can be done with self-focus, self-observation, and self-kindness.

Doing self-care is not total self-isolation. Yet self-care is essential for stress management. Keep in mind that there are many reasons for doing self-care. You can add ten to fifteen minutes of self-care and in phases. Have a vision board, a chart, or a self-care quote to remind you to practice self-care.

Remember to practice self-care on International Self-Care Day on July 24th. Also, share your self-care vision board to inspire others to bring awareness of self-care. Additionally, you can share your affirmations, quotes, or other words of encouragement for motivation and self-care. Make a commitment to change your self-care routine throughout the seasons and repeat the self-care activities that you like. Keep your vision board as a reminder to reduce stress and to take care of your overall wellness through self-care.

Establish boundaries and limit your device use for a set time. This can help you to focus on taking breaks and more time for self-care. As well as adding positive affirmations or quotes to help you not feel remorseful or embarrassed for taking care of yourself. Lastly, decide to update your self-care routine and be consistent in repeating the self-care activities. Here are resources for more ideas for self-care.
