National Eye Exam Month in August

Getting an eye exam every year or every two years can prevent eye infections and it detects eye diseases. Eating healthy and resting your eyes from too much screen time on electronic devices may protect your eyes and brain. Too much screen time on electronics causes eye strain and headaches over time. If you wear contact lenses or eyeglasses, it is recommended to check your eyes once a year. The entire month of August is dedicated to bringing awareness to eye exams which are called, National Eye Exam Month.

Children should get eye exams by the age of three to check for eye movement, eye contact, and vision changes. Also, an optometrist can check for watery eyes, red itchy eyes, and other symptoms of allergies and eye infections. Eye exams can also detect cholesterol, high blood pressure, and diabetes. It can detect prediabetes besides blurry vision. Here are more resources about National Eye Exam Month.
