Handpainted Tin Can Tutorial

Do you like to collect vintage tin cans? If you do, you will love this quick and simple painting project. The best part is that you can reuse the tin can after painting it for storing small items. I used an empty Nivea Creme tin can for this painting project. However, you can use any size tin can to repurpose it.

Materials:

Different colors of Acrylic Paint

Different colors of Nail Polish

1 tin can

Different sizes of paintbrushes

Old Paper

Clear Top Coat of Paint

Place the old paper on the table before painting the tin can. Next, wash off the hand cream residue from the tin can. Dry the tin can with a soft towel or rag. After that dip, one paintbrush into one coat of paint and paint the front cover of the tin can. Wait for the paint to dry.

Also, paint the backside of the tin can using the same color paint. Wait for the paint to dry. After that dip a second paintbrush with a different color of paint and paint a flower. Wait for the paint to dry. Continue painting lines to create the flower.

Fill in the flower with a different color of nail polish. Wait for the nail polish to dry. Paint a flower stem with green paint and another nail polish color. Wait for the paint to dry. Last, paint a clear topcoat to protect the painted area of the tin can. After everything is dry, you can store small items such as earrings, safety pins, or other items. Have fun painting your tin cans.
