If you are a beginner in meditating, you might want to use incense to help you relax, to do breathing techniques, and for concentration. Incense is also used for mindfulness especially if you are practicing self-discovery, self-care, self-love, or for using your senses. Selecting incense can be challenging especially if you are a beginner for meditating or for mindfulness. Choose incense made from essential oils and natural plant materials which can help you especially if you have asthma, allergies, or a combination of asthma and allergies. Nonetheless, incense can help you connect yourself with nature. 

Incense can be used for visual meditation, guided meditation, yoga, and other types of meditation. Begin by cleaning the area where you will place the incense. Make sure you have a heat-resistant holder to hold the incense sticks. As well as reading all the ingredients of what the incense is made from to avoid synthetic fragrances. Also, keep in mind that incense comes in various forms such as powders, cones, pieces of wood, and sticks. 

To safely use incense, make sure you read the instructions carefully before burning incense. Always consult with your doctor before using incense especially if you have allergies, asthma, or a respiratory condition. Nevertheless, incense is safe to use in your home and keep your pets away from the incense area. Depending on the type of meditation, you can use various scents for your incense such as Sandalwood, Sage, Lavender, Cedarwood, Eucalyptus, Rose, Amber, Cinnamon, Frankincense, and Musk can be used for different purposes. Make sure you do not get dizzy while meditating with incense especially if you have low blood sugars. 

Open the windows of your meditation room and burn incense in a ventilated area. If you like sweet, floral, and sensual aromas, you might like to use Lavender, Vanilla, Strawberry, Musk, Jasmine, or Cinnamon incense. However, if you like woodsy and citrus scents, you might want to burn incense with Orange, Lemon, Sandalwood, Cedarwood, or Lemongrass. Some incense can be burned to repel insects such as mosquitoes. To repel mosquitoes you can use Eucalyptus, Sandalwood, Rosemary, Lavender, and Lemongrass.

If you are a beginner in meditating with incense, you can meditate for five to ten minutes. Then, you can add fifteen minutes for your meditation with incense. Meditating with incense can make you feel calm and alert depending on the scent of the incense that is burned. Peppermint incense can make you feel alert and help you concentrate. Another scent is sage which helps for clarity and to feel peaceful. 

Fruit scented incense can improve your mood, for clarity, and for relaxation. Select various scents for burning incense and practice meditating twice a week with incense. Burning incense can help you with your healing, recovery process, and can help you concentrate on your college studies. Lastly, you can use incense as you meditate as a couple.
