Be Kind to Humankind Week 2025 & Tips for the Office
Since August
1988, Be Kind to Humankind Week began to do something nice for someone or for
others. It is a global celebration of kindness, to give a helping hand, and to
show empathy. Use the hashtag, " BK2HK" to bring awareness for Be
Kind to Humankind Week. It is a week dedicated to doing acts of kindness. Be
Kind to Humankind Week starts in the last week of August every year.
You can celebrate Be Kind to Humankind
Week by making a list of the acts of kindness you want to do for someone or for
a group of friends or acquaintances. For example, you can help a student or a
teacher to purchase school supplies. Another way is to help someone with their
groceries or purchase flowers for someone. Also, take one day at a time and ask
someone if they need your help. Offer to spend time with them and help them
edit their homework assignments or office paperwork.
At the end of the day, you can write
down your acts of kindness on a journal. Write down how you felt after doing
the acts of kindness. Additionally, you can follow the themes for Be Kind to
Humankind Week. On Sunday, sacrificing your needs for others’ needs such as
donating to charity or doing volunteer work to help others. Then on Monday,
Motorist Consideration is by taking your time to practice driving courtesy.
Tuesday's theme is offering your touch
by giving a hug, holding hands, and showing your love to someone. Sometimes
giving a hug to someone that you know or someone you are not too close with can
help them feel better. On Wednesday, they offer to help someone by organizing,
cleaning, making a meal, or throwing away the trash. Lastly, on Thursday, be
thoughtful by writing something Kind to someone. Give written positive feedback
to someone.
The most challenging theme for some of
us is Forgiving Friday. Yet, forgiveness can bring you peace of mind.
Although the relationship or friendship might be damaged, forgiving makes you
more aware of yourself and your emotional healing. As well as letting you move
forward and strive to be kind to others no matter what they did to you. Keep
in mind how you speak to others and practice forgiveness.
On Saturday, you can speak with
kindness. Be Kind to Humankind Week can also be practiced at work by
following the themes of the week or doing acts of kindness at work. Communicate
clearly, become a mentor for someone, and be respectful with how you speak to
coworkers. Encourage others and not taking advantage of them for personal job
growth. Express yourself with positivity and acknowledge their feelings.
Help them, thank them, and be there to
listen to them. Provide advice when needed, recognize the demanding work tasks,
and offer them resources for them to understand their new career, especially if
they are a new employee. Begin by introducing yourself and your job experience
without bragging about it. Do not speak badly about your boss in front of other
employees or anyone. Show your appreciation even if they take it for granted or
ignore it.
Acts of kindness at work are not
difficult but it can be a challenge if they do not accept it. There are many
reasons why it can be a challenge for not accepting acts of kindness. Yet,
understanding the reasons can help you be kind to your coworkers. Listen to
them if they tell you the reasons why they do not accept acts of kindness. Here
