June is Alzheimer's & Brain Awareness Month (2020)

Once again, it is Alzheimer's and Brain Awareness Month. It is recommended to eat leafy green vegetables such as spinach because of its vitamin E. Supplementing with vitamin E and vitamin C may protect neurons in the brain. Neurons are cells that send nerve impulses to the brain. Also, consuming pine nuts, almonds, and peanuts a day keeps your brain healthy.

Consult with your primary doctor before supplementing with vitamin E and vitamin C. However, eating healthy provides the necessary vitamins and minerals the body and brain needs. Your general doctor can run a blood test to see if you are deficient in certain vitamins such as vitamin D, E, C, and Zinc. Besides, eating vegetables and fruits, consuming fish or chicken is beneficial for brain function. Brushing your teeth three times a day keeps your heart and brain healthy too.

Sleeping is significant for brain function. Recent studies have shown that sleeping on your side helps the brain to eliminate waste. Sleeping on your left or right side cleans and protects the brain. This may reduce Alzheimer's. Doing Aerobics or any kind of exercise helps the body and brain to relax.

Although there is no cure for Alzheimer's, you can donate and promote Alzheimer's Month in June on social media. Go Purple on social media by adding the Go Purple to End  Alzheimer's picture frame on Facebook. Wearing purple and decorating your home with purple items to bring awareness of Alzheimer's and other neurological disorders. Last, sharing your experience of caring for someone with Alzheimer's at the Alzheimer's Association website or Facebook or Twitter page. Here are more resources for Alzheimer's and Brain Awareness Month.
