Safety Tips for Bloggers

Blogging makes you have fun and feel creative when you write. However, there are certain months of the year when a blogger might not feel safe online. Sometimes, a blogger might go through cyberbullying, stalking, predators, and porn-obsessed strangers. Whatever their intentions are, it is best to follow these tips when you are blogging. After following these tips you will feel a little bit safer when you write on social media and in your blogs.

First, be alert and use your common sense when you accept a friend request, a follow, or a request from a stranger online. Second, review their profiles and make your judgment before accepting a follow or a friend request from a stranger. Third, check for spam e-mails in messenger, WhatsApp, or other messaging apps you use for your blog. Fourth, if you feel uncomfortable do not accept the friend request or the following. Fifth, if they send you an inappropriate video or image, you have the right to report it and to block them on social media.

This may seem harsh but for personal safety, it is best to ignore those messages from strangers who have bad intentions. Whether you are married or a single blogger do not let yourself be dominated by online trolls. Sixth, make some privacy changes in your settings on your profiles and on messaging apps. Seventh, do not post too many personal pictures of yourself, your family, or your friends. The eighth step is not to post every personal detail about your personal life.

Keep your blog separate from your personal life if necessary on social media. It might be tempting to chat with a stranger who is following your blog. Therefore, limit your conversations and keep them basic. The ninth step is to follow your instinct and do not be too trusting. If you do not feel comfortable doing video chats, telephone calls, or other requests from strangers; Let them know that you do not want to do it and end the conversation.
