Dyslexia Awareness Month 2022

Ever year in October is Dyslexia Awareness Month. People who have dyslexia are misunderstood, bullied, or have felt different among their peers. Being dyslexic does not mean that you are not intelligent, it only means that you learn things differently. A person who has dyslexia are clever, creative, and can socialize with people at work and at school. Also, people with dyslexia observe and learn at a different pace.

However, people with dyslexia can feel left-out especially in school or might be bullied for reading slow. Similarly, there are some companies where employees and work personnel might act different when they find out that someone is dyslexic. It gets irritating, frustrating, and bothersome when someone is being labeled at their work for having dyslexia. Therefore, people with dyslexia might feel certain things are a challenge especially at work and are too stressed out working there. Furthermore, labeling people should not be allowed at any place of business or in schools.

Some people are so ignorant and take things as a joke when they hear that someone has dyslexia. Most of the time people with dyslexia do not tell anyone that they have this learning disability out of fear of being labeled, judged, and harassed at work. It is important to recognize that dyslexia as a learning disability, but it does not impair a person’s ability to function and socialize. You can wear a silver or red ribbon to promote Dyslexia. The silver ribbon symbolizes dyslexia while the red ribbon is for the Go Red for Dyslexia campaign.

You can learn more about dyslexia especially if your employer is uninformed about this learning disability. Do not get upset if you have dyslexia. Dyslexia does not define you as a person. There is a national day for Dyslexia which is on October 8th. Here is more information about Dyslexia Awareness Month.
