Today is World Mental Health Day. World Mental Health Day is every year on October 10th. This year’s theme from The World Federation for Mental Health is about making mental health a priority in a global aspect. “Making mental health and well-being for all a global priority” is so important for everyone who is struggling or knows someone who is struggling from mental health. You might know someone who is struggling with depression, anxiety disorder, PTSD, eating disorder, or with a mood disorder.

However, mental health covers a wider range of topics such as OCD, panic disorders, schizophrenia, and other behavior conditions. Also, addictions that a person might not express when they are seeing their primary doctor. Mental health should be a priority to prevent suicides and to help people with personal issues. Most personal issues are not easy to say to a professional therapist out of shame and fear. Fear of being judged for one’s personal actions and having hidden phobias are other reasons that make it difficult to get the right treatments.

Other times there are language barriers that might it challenging to understand your therapist or vice versa. In addition, there are cultural barriers that make it difficult to attend a session with a therapist. Therefore, one must let go of those challenges while seeking therapy, medical treatments, and other treatments. Taking care of mental health will help you emotionally, psychologically, and for your social well-being. When you are hurt emotionally, your body and your mind are affected.

You might think you are able to manage it by yourself, but it is not easy. If needed ask for a second opinion about medications, your therapy treatments, and for how long you must take your medications for your mental health. One must not lose sleep, feel anger constantly, or battle with their mental health alone. If you are drinking too much alcohol or are having addiction issues due to personal reasons, seek professional help. Here are more resources about World Mental Health Day.
