Self-Care Tips for Couples

Doing self-care with your partner can strengthen your relationship and help you communicate better. Dedicate some time to self-care in the morning during the weekends or on a day off from work. You and your partner can take care -care together by reading to each other after breakfast. Read for one hour. Turn off your television and silence your cellphones. 

 

Select a book that both of you like. However, if your partner likes to play chess, checkers, or card games; You can play a game with your partner. Have fun playing games without being competitive. Although your partner might want to win in all the games; it is recommended to play games to get to know your partner. Similarly, both of you can make meals together and have open communication while the meals are prepared.

 

Self-care is about getting closer to your partner and finding ways to reduce stress. Taking a walk together and enjoying the scenery. Be gentle and kind with your partner. Lay down on the floor and hold your partner's head. Practice loving-kindness while holding your partner's head. 

 

Meditate together and take turns holding your partner's head. Practice trust with mindfulness meditation. Meditating with your partner can help you connect with your partner. Another form of a couple’s meditation is to stare at each other in silence and slowly holding hands in silence. Besides meditating as a tool for self-care, both of you can practice gratitude. 

 

Taking care of your partner's mind and body can help your partner feel closer to you. Make a gratitude vision board, a couple's journal, and always give thanks to your partner. Often one partner does not want to hear thank you but saying thank you can help you have a stronger bond in your relationship. If your partner does not say thank you, it does not mean they are ungrateful. However, they might show you their appreciation and gratitude with their actions. 

 

Nonetheless, practice self-care at night with your partner before going to sleep. Make an early dinner or have an intimate picnic in your backyard with your partner. Additionally, do stretching exercises together. Give a foot massage with oil or lotion. Take turns massaging each other's feet. 

 

As well as giving a hug to your partner before going to sleep. Listen to music in silence together and hold hands. Drink decaf tea or hot cocoa while staring at each other. Have an honest conversation and release your worries together. Listen with patience and do yoga or Tai Chi together. 

 

Nevertheless, find activities that both of you can do and enjoy sharing information together. Dance and meditate together. Use aromatherapy, guided meditations for couples, and read poetry for couples. Do a skincare routine together while listening to instrumental music.
