Mindful Appreciation & National Employee Appreciation Day
Employee recognition and appreciation is celebrated every year in March. National Employee Appreciation Day is on the first Friday of March. Notes, letters of recommendations, and thank you cards that are handwritten can be meaningful. Also, working half a day on this day can also make this day memorable. However, it can improve an employee's mental wellness.
Taking an employee survey can be positive for you and your co-workers. It is necessary to take one day to relax or short breaks away from the computer during work hours. Encourage yourself to participate in a workplace mental health day and to appreciate everything that you do at your job. Additionally, do not ignore the workplace surveys, evaluations, and work feedback. If your job offers gym membership, spa membership, or yoga membership is one way you might feel appreciated at work.
Although not all jobs might offer these memberships; It can be beneficial for you and for your co-workers. Nonetheless, you and your co-workers can practice mindfulness at work by practicing mindfulness listening, breathing mindfulness, or mindful eating during your work breaks. During National Employee Appreciation Day, you can practice mindfulness with your co-workers. Use your senses and experience appreciation in the present moment by having a journal, a gratitude list, and practicing identifying the positive experiences that occur to you. Furthermore, take a walk during your work break which can help you reduce your stress, especially from bad workdays. Mindful Appreciation at work can help you feel empathy for yourself and for your co-workers. Have a picnic, go to a restaurant, or spend time with your co-workers outside of work to practice mindful appreciation. This might help improve your work friendships.
However, not everyone might want to participate in Mindfulness Appreciation at work. Yet, it is necessary to have positive work friendships and spend time with them, especially if you are working in a team. Although, there might be times when work friendships might not feel optimistic for your mental wellness; It is best to stay optimistic and encourage appreciation at work for your mental wellness. Understand workplace boundaries. Do not force someone to have a workplace friendship and try to understand them.
Encourage employee team activities on this day of appreciation through mindfulness, meditation, and other relaxing activities. Continue having positive conversations with employees and do motivate them by developing appreciation activities in your workplace. Make appreciation messages for them to take home in addition to making an appreciation employee board or appreciation wall of positive affirmations for employees.
