How to have Self-Compassion?

Self-compassion is being kind to yourself while having self-awareness about yourself. After a traumatic experience, there is always the feeling of being worthless, shameful, and angry. You blame yourself for what occurred to you without having self-compassion. Do not confuse self-compassion with feeling sympathy for yourself. On the contrary, self-compassion helps you to heal emotionally and to be kind.

Self-kindness requires taking care of your mind and your body. Reduce your negative thoughts about yourself slowly and gradually make them more positive. Dividing your negative and positive thoughts without making an assessment. Letting each thought flow in a written form and learning to speak to yourself. Being kind in the present moment.

Self-compassion is different than self-love. Self-love is a prolonged process. While practicing self-compassion might take a few hours or a few days to get to know your thoughts. Also, you do not isolate yourself, but you socialize with your friends with empathy. Sharing your experiences with others while you heal yourself emotionally.

Do not avoid how you feel now. Speaking about painful experiences helps you with the healing process. It connects you to your thoughts and feelings from a distinct perspective. You learn to change your thinking if you were speaking to a good friend without self-judgment. Mindfulness, journaling, writing, or positive affirmations inspires you to be kind.

Self-compassion changes your thoughts by being less critical and tough on yourself. Moreover, you can practice self-compassion with self-love. Additionally, with meditation and reflecting on yourself without making excuses. You do not need to have a higher level of self-esteem to do self-compassion. All you need is motivation to change your behavior to feel better about yourself.

Modify your attitude about life. Adapt to what you know and what needs to be improved. Self-compassion and recovering from traumatic events simultaneously to see yourself without harsh words. Self-compassion is not a self-identification, but it is an element to reduce painful memories. Here are resources about self-compassion.
