Embroidering a Tank Shirt With Flowers

Embroidering tank shirts is a fun way to update and mend it. Often a shirt with holes can be transformed into a beautiful and stylish shirt to wear. In this example, a green tank shirt with pockets had tiny holes and was mended with embroidery. Also, the old metallic buttons were removed, and white buttons were sewn onto the tank shirt. Here is the tutorial for making this flower embroidered tank shirt.

Materials:

Embroidery needle

Regular needle

Embroidering floss/thread

Regular Thread

Buttons

Scissors

Flower Stencil (Optional)

Fabric or Washable Marker

Tank Shirt

Instructions:

Draw or print out a free flower stencil. Then, cut the flower stencil with scissors. After that trace, the flowers, and leaves onto the tank shirt. In this example, the flower stencil was from the Free Stencil Gallery. Insert thread onto an embroidery needle.

After that begin inserting the embroidery needle with the thread onto the tank shirt. Make the outline of the entire design with the thread. Continue adding more stitches until you cover the marker lines. Then, remove the old buttons from the tank shirt. After that sew matching buttons with a regular thread and needle.

In the example white buttons were sewn to match the embroidery thread. Next, continue embroidering and cover the holes of the tank shirt. Make embroidery knots to add the dots onto the leaves. Also, add the dots on the bottom of the shirt. This embroidery project will take five days to complete.

Nonetheless, embroidering tank shirts can make you save your comfortable tank shirts. Make sure you have enough embroidery thread. Wash your embroidered shirt inside out and put it in the gentle cycle or by hand. Have fun embroidering your tank shirt.
